This image is somthing I'm toying with, trying to combine the way I paint with how I draw. The line work is from a very small (2 inch) ink drawing out of my sketchbook with all the color done in photoshop. Comments and such welcome.

Hi, looks good, the line work works really well and the look to the background, looks very painted, the splatters work really well. The only thing that I don't like is the highlighted area on the lip, it sort of makes it look very fat. |

Cool picture, I agree with toenail about the mouth.
Off a tangent, would you be related to a certain Stitch666 who posts at the TTLG forums at all? |

Anatomically speaking, the heard should be in the bottom right of the box, but that's just stupid nit-picky stuff and it would really ruin the picture if you changed it.
I like this painting, it's more what I would consider art than a portrait. There is a strong implicit message here. I like it. |

Toenail- Thanks for the kind words. I agree that the lip area looks a little weird, the face was giving me some trouble at first. I ended up erasing most of it and found that it was exactly what it needed. So I left some of the flaws so I wouldn't screw up what strength I had in it. Besides I think it looks like he's making a kissy face or sucking his lips in or something.
Teaweed- Nope, no relation. Must just be a popular name.
Tarandon- Thank you so much! I was a little apprehensive posting this here at first, noticing all the realist/sci-fi/concept art and wondering how I'd fit in. I think that sometimes (for me) realism gets in the way of communicating mood or other emotional intangibles, which for me are more important than just the pure academic study of form. So thank you for appreciating what I'm trying to do, praise can't get much higher than that. |
