here is a drawing I just did in about 1 and a half hours, but keep these 3 things in mind:
I am 13
I have a broken arm
I have only gone to 1 art class

That's a nice start you have there. But you might want to give folks a link, because for some reason it's not showing up on the board.

Okay, now for a little C&C. I like the moon, but the starry sky is a little confusing. Because the stars are all the same size and uniformly spaced, at first I thought they were supposed to be snow. Try changing their size and brightness.
The anatomy isn't perfect, but don't worry. That will come with practice. (I'm still learning it myself!)
Also, you might want to try using more colors. Right now you have fewer than 20 main colors in the picture, which gives it a very flat look. Add in varying colors for shadows and highlights, and you'll give your picture a lot more depth. Also, try to remember that trees aren't a green circle on top of a brown stick. They have twisty branches, clumps of leaves, and roots too.
Here's a quick paint-over to give you a hint of what I mean:
Keep up the good work! |

Howdy. That isent bad considering all that you said. But hey, Im fourteen and, lets face it; all they try to teach you in art class is how to draw 'abstract'. Next time, possibly when your arm heals; you might try giving your character a more dynamic pose. Sliceing of the heads of infedels is always a crowd pleaser...eh-heh. Please check out my cloud pic and let me know what you think. Im gonna post it right now, and it will be called: "Cloud, from FF7". Thankees.

It is great that you are giving art a try. Something you may want to do though, would be to simply sit on this picture and then return to it in a week and try to add more and more detial. The trick to art is that the more patient you are with it, the better it will turn out. Try an additional hour or two on this one and then re post it. Also, take a walk outside tonight and look at the sky and the trees-- how do they look? Then go through some pictures or ask an older sibling to pose for you so that you can get your guy to look more real. |
