Hi,
i tried painting with acrylics recently.
thats one of the acceptable results.
comments and critics are welcome, although i wont work on that one, but i plan to do some others that way, so it would really help getting some criticism.
thanks
sorry for the bad scan

Great use of color and I like your technique.
If this is your first time with acrylic, what types of media did you learn to paint in? |

very beautiful. makes you stare, I don't particularly know why. the background colours don't look good to me but that could be a taste thing....I'd say cut out the green. as for the face, it's done extraordinarily well. I can't vouch for the likeness but the technique is clearly up there. the whole shading and highlight of the face is spectacular, but there are two highlights on the right (my right) side of his forehead that look out of place, a bit bulbous. the colours are striking, they make it so much more unique...an excellent, excellent painting. |

wow, thanks, i did not expect getting such positive crits in a forum were the best arts guys ive er seen post their pics.
for the colour schemes, i try to take a black and white picture and the put the colours in warm cold, as i think it might look interesting, when i find a good colour scheme i try to apply it to a portrait and work it out.
the most problematic thing at working with that much and saturated colours is not to go too wild and destroy the pic, but go exatly too that edge were you cant exaggerate the colours anymore.
what do you think and how do you do it? |
