anyhoo, i've posted a few of my first attempts with the tablet in wip and i'm now wondering if, hey...i'm getting better or sucking harder. anyway fun.

hmmm
if thats supposed to be shading on his nose it did not quite work.Looks like somebody punched his face up and gave him a swollen bloody nose.Still looks good though.Try using smaller brushes....and giving the eyes more outline.and more detail...more strands of hair......detail on eyebrows
its a good start though.

thanks for the crits you. i wasn't really paying attention to shading on this guy, just trying to get the colors of the flesh understood. you know, yellow = forehead, reds = mid and nose, blues, greens, and cools = chin and neck. not really rules, but conventions. i'm really just trying to practice that before i attempt to paint something serious.

pat: i always forget to even do that invert (flip) thing, i'll try and pay attention to that next time.

soulfuct: well it is december here, and we do get rosey and crap. eheeh....no seriously i see what you mean. thanks

His face is very asymmetric. It's odd though, because it looks kinda good that way. If you're going for a more realistic style, watch for the facial slide... every artist has a right/left bias. Try flipping the image in your paint program and checking if it looks ok to you.
