sorry for the crappy image, just finished it this morning, this is for my life drawing midterm, on 18*24 inch paper, which is the reason I used a crappy webcam and not a scanner.
(the frame is the size of the sheet)

this was done in ink wash, and to add some more contrast in the end I used pure india ink to add some lines around the figure and in the darker areas. all done from start to finish in about 3 hours.

this is the reference photo I used by Tim Philips.

well good start... But you definetly need more structure , line quality and work on your proportions...

the shading is quite well done. good balance of tones.

her shoulders seem way to big, they make her more masculine looking. her arms are too fat, and her hands are too small.

the feet and the back are quite well done. youve gotten better.

msg me on icq-44113263-its been awhile man.

hm, there really are no lines in this, the only linework I have in there is the preliminary pencil sketch where I set up some basic proportions, after I did the ink wash I removed the pencil lines (they erase even under the ink) makes it look a lot cleaner

You need a little work on proportions.

Look at the left hip to the buttocks...Your drawing makes her left butt cheek look tiny compaired to the photo ref.

You also gave her huge breasts compaired to the pic.

Her torso is too thin compaired to the pic.

Her left shoulder is lower in the pic than in the drawing.

The feet are too small aand fore arm is too short

I dont mean to pick on your drawing. Your rendering is very nice. You made the proportions of the shading in the back area pretty damn close....you just made Her body too thin in some places and angles off a little.

Its difficult to draw what you see and not what you think you see. You came pretty close to hitting the mark, just missed by a tad.

Great job though. Look nice as far as lighting and shadow (such as the muscles in the back and shoulder blades)

well, I see all the problems you are talking about, they are definitely there, heh if this was photoshop I'd fix it, but considering that, I guess I'll have to be more carefull on my linework next time, it is quite difficult drawing that big off of a picture that small and proportions are bound to be off, at least at my skill level, really what I was aiming for is a final drawing, not a reproduction of the photo, if this was a reproduction, or a portrait, it would be diffrent, but as a drawing I think I did well enough, and so does my art instructor.

on another note I did get all the drawings (9 instead of 11) and still got an A on this assignment, I'll photo them in and put them in this thread once I have them, maybe even in higher quality,

dont want to be picky or anything but isnt life drawing class meant for you to draw an actual model in a limited amount of time? Whereas you are drawing froma photographe and maybe spend more time then you really are suppose to ??

If your life drawing teacher is making you draw from photographes than personally that is just wrong...
