It's been a long time since I posted but here is the finished oil painting for the sketch I posted way back. This is my 2nd attempt at oils so be kind to me.
If anyone is going to San Diego Comic Con (July 19-22) I will be in booth 1514 for most of the con. Stop by and say "hi".
As always - crits are welcomed.
I was asked if I would make prints of this for the Comic Con. Do you think I should?
P.S. Those who remember my posting about stolen art a few months ago... It was mysteriously returned. My faith in humanity has been restored a little. |

but I won't give up cause I like them too much
I don't think you are in the mood for changes
but some more contrast would be nice
(I played around in PS with it)
hmmm the blood don't look very convincing either
though cool pic
have much fun at the comic con
wished I could be there |

Contrast - This was from a flat bed scan. Some of the highlights and the solid black areas lost contrast. The reflection of the bulb off of the higher gloss areas caused this. The drum scan came out great though.
Even though the painting is finished and I probably will not go back and retouch it anytime soon, I like the crits so that I can see what I need to work on. The advice helps in future projects.
Yes, this is my second finished oil painting. It is my 3rd oil painting that I have started. I was painting a Spawn piece for practice but had to put it aside unfinished because I had to complete this one for a comic book. I usually work in B/W mediums like pencil and airbrush or ink and/or acrylic washes. Lately I have been dabbling in digital painting as well.
Post the one you were playing with in photoshop. I would love to see the dirction you took. |
