This is a short animation I was assigned to do for my computer art class. Director 8 was used, it is 30 seconds long (2mb, .mov), and the company is ficional. I was going for something simple yet visually interesting.
And yes, the little drum beat cuts off but it was an error when I converted it to quicktime.

Letter-by-letter text animation never really works out so well. The whole movie is kind of slow moving, not much happening, and no real explaination or theme as to what's going on. If you want to promote design capability, maybe do some storyboards and plan out an visually stimulating, fluent design, this kind of seems gimicky at best.
Try putting in some imagery and doing some experimentation with good, effective typography, rather than just having the letters form like this. (There are programs that automatically animate letters like this in flash, so its becomming a bit overused, even though it was never really a good technique to use anyway).
In a nutshell, I guess try something more fluent, and I would lose the outlines on all the shapes, it kind of makes them look a bit too amaturish, simple flat blue shapes would have been much more effective in this case.
Keep it up though, I'm sure you'll see what I mean after some more practice. |
