I'm guessing that they repair old underground pipe by sliding in a new pipe of smaller diameter. I've seen it done on TV. One product was a spiral shape that inserted small then they spun it, to make it wider and fit the old pipe snugly.

yeah, this is pipe lining where a old crappy ppipe is lined with a new fibregalss kinda thing thats pulled though andthen inflated to fit.

some more filler:
Something I created for my GCSE art exam a couple years ago.. I must've bin... 15, yeah.. i guess. Anways that was back when I didn't 'paint' with strokes but used a more synthetc technique which i now shun. Even at the time I was not keen on it. far too dull, dull dulll dulldrum. boring as heck to look at. It was a tacky uninspired play on a picture by magritte where a large rock sporting a sort of emalgamated rock-castle floats above the ocean. Used bryce renders for the sea and sky sort of composited in and all that. I didn't have the courage back then to seriously toy with the values and contrast... Used another simple 3d program for modeling the buildings and textured and all the rest, 'painted' over in photoshop.

yea I used to use Bryce 2 back in 97 which started my 3d interest, then I moved over too truespace 1 and then later on 3d studio max...hehe, my 3d history...hehe. :)
I can see the ellipse you were talking about, you meant the white is too much open?
I like the cracks there. :)

mat: yeah that croessectional-elipse of the terracota pipe, where it disappears behind the white liner, you can see it is too small suggesting an inconsistnat 'pipe-wall thickness'.. (or something like that Razz)
