After 6 days doing one "quick" portrait per day (only showed the 3 lasts) I think practice begins to show/work
For the colors first, this time I didnt sampled anything from the photo and i got much better colors than the other times, more vivid and less "dead" I think, and I didnt had to play with contrast and levels neither.
Also, this time I didnt had much things to correct. (the other times i always had to resize the nose or things like that)
I think i spent between 1h and 1h30 on this pic.

So here it is, try to guess who she is , but it may be tricky since she is not THAT famous (well she begins to be famous )

and like the other time ill post my work in progress thing, so you can criticize me about my "way" to draw too.

Seems like Lucy Liu, but this perspective might not accentuate her "tall/thin" face. The shaded side of her face seems more like a Lucy Liu The eye on the left is not symmetrical with the one on the right.

I would say Catherine Zeta-Jones, because she looks similiar to your painting in "Traffic" (Excellent movie by the way), but she is awefully famous in America.

To me she looks like Rosalind Chao, the actress that plays Keiko O'Brien in ST DS9.

Could be wrong though...

Nice pic, thanks for posting the steps, i always like to see how people go about painting their peices.

I noticed though that her lips are off center and too mis-shaped.

The nostrils are too circular and point up too much. You could also go back and smooth the shading on the right side of her face.

I like her eyes, they are well rendered, and her lips are rendered well also, just that the upper lip is too big and the curve that dips in is too deep. Hope this helps..

everyone thanxs for the comments

Krazy :

for Step 1 i used a 100% opacity hard brush (with no stylus option at all) with that im totally covering the background and i lay down the solid very basic colors

for step 2 i use the same big hard brush but this time i use the stylus opacity. witht he color picker (ALT) i pick for example one of the solid colors and i start smoothing the frontier between 1 colors, since i have opacity checked intermediates colors will appear , i color pick these one and again smooth the transitions, ... for this step i dont make any new colors, i just pick on the pick and "mix" the ones i already have layed down in the first step

after this step i usually double the size of the picture (i do the first steps at the resolution i want the picture to be in the final usually) and again witht the same size of brush (but the pic is 2x larger so the brush is smaller) i start detailling, using color picker and "mixing" ...

then i will use smaller brushes for detailing and eventually i may start adding other colors in some places (like more reddish for the nose and things like that)

Im working like that, i dont k,now at all if it is the best way but for now i havent find better for me

Bubonic :
yes I think a thing i should do the next times is to block the lips and the eyes first too, for now i added them after and they always looks like they dont really fit the pic, if i start with big shapes for them too first it will "mix" better and i will not do again the problems you are pointing out, maybe
yes it helps, thanxs

I like the blue girl. The right eye(her left) is off needs to be a tad higher and more left. The top one is good expect shift the eyes both to our right orrrr move the right eye more right. The pupils are not looking in the same diection. ALso down by the lip toooo many shadows I think don't make her look lumpy like there is tumors in he face.
