I have only seen the first Jurassic Park movie on TV, that is when Jurassic Park 2 was showing. I recalled it was critically acclaimed and very popular. Everybody used to say "This is absolutely the best movie ever!" I don't believe in any of that, so I kept watching, and in conclusion, I think the first JP sucked, and the second one is probably the same thing. I'm surprised that they're making another sequel (!) I have no problems with movies with giant beasts and destruction, in fact, I kind of liked Gozillas (those old Japanese ones). |

They are probably making another one cause JP II is the leader of the opening weekend sales. Like 72mil. Star wars I only got 65mil on opening weekend.
So that is the reason $$ money money money $$ heh
I'll go see it tonight or tomorrow, can't this weekend, going to a LAN, so I'll tell ya what I think when I see it.

It was OK.
The CG was nice...I like it because Sam Niel is in it and Im just a fan of his. The plot was pretty much Stupid. But the new Dino. they bring in is Pretty fucking kick ass. there is a neet fight between him and a Trex. Other than that..Oh...and every single person had some sort of stupid cut on there face that just didnt look real and didnt seem to hurt anyone.
And Sam Neil Can talk to Rapters because he is SWEET.
hehe
Hope I didnt spoil anything.
Go watch it.
At least maybe it can still beat out Leagally Blond.
I just want to let the generation of 12-17ers know that they make these movies for you guys...because they hapen to be makeing money on them. If you know somone who likes these movies...TIE THEM UP....Dont let them see it. Makes me fucking sick. |

All I know, Is that I liked the first one, but had it been made today, when that kind of technology is common, I probably couldn't have appriciated it as much. It passed my standards for a good movie none the less though.
The second one was a complete and total disappointment. What doomed the second one was bad acting, a bad plot and almost totally abandoning Micheal Chrichton's novel that is was based on.
The third one has a new director and there's more emphasis on it being a scary movie. That's why I think it may actually be good. |

Multiply that by 10 and you have the third one.

I'm going to go with a gut instinct and say that it'll suck coprolite. Just from what I've seen from the trailers, it appears to be cheap, gimmicky, and half-assed. And you can only have so many secret islands of do0m before you're beating a dead horse.
I'll have to go see it and report back here. *nod* |

personally I liked III beter than II, but it was too short. It left me wanting more.
there are a number of scenes they could have done alot more with. I think it was still pretty good( but thats probly because my girlfriend was clingning to me the whole movie. )
I enjoyed it tho. I only ever go to movies for two reasons. graphix and entertainment and JPIII entertained me. (not that its difficult to do)
I found that the movie had no sense of grand-ness to it. It was pretty much just get on the island, run away, get off the island. it didnt seem like it was all that.... Big.

CGI dinosaurs have been done to death now. Movies, documentaries...Its just not *new* anymore. You dont go and see it to say "Wow, it feels like they are real" because we've seen it umpteen many times already. The first JP was impactful because it put the dinosaurs there, alive in a modern world. Now it comes down to *new* dinosaurs.
Lets re-bury these great beasts now I say. Start something fresh. |

this movie seriously sucked.
the raptor talking in alan grant's dream was the highlight of the movie, I was laughing for five minutes afterwards.
"ALAn, Alan!"

don't know if anybody noticed but I think its kind of ironic that they included like a ~30 second clip of barney the purple dinosaur heh (on tv, when the little kid was watching and uggh.. jumping to it heh)
=)
Jurasik Park 4 should be played out by a buncha guys in big barney suits, ehhe that would be funny

Its worth seeing just for the new dinosaur and mobile phone bit, that was so funny.
The ending was just plain stupid though. |

my theater serves horrible popcorn and coke. apparently the mysteries of mixing the right amount of syrup in the coke machine are just too great for anybody there to ponder, because it always tastes horrible as well.
as for the movie, i was very let down. i went with high hopes, i absolutely love the first one .. and i was willing to forgive the second one. 3 wasn't AS bad as 2, i guess, thinking back .. but it was damn close. right from the get go i knew it would suck. it just broke the principal the first was built on. it was a fantasy story, sort of. obviously things went bad, but it built on the idea of a dream come true for adults and children alike. this one, from the first second with the deep, threatening music, you just know that it's instant-trouble, and the claws scratching the 3 into the title made it that much worse. it's a horror movie more than anything else, and not even a good one.
and that's not what i, and most fans of the first, wanted to see. i'm glad it was short, i wanted out of there.
me and my friend had debated on seeing jp3 or final fantasy .. i picked jp3 out of optimism. about 15 minutes in i leaned over and said we should've seen FF. (btw, saw that last night. visually, astounding is an extreme understatement. movie was kinda stupid though if you ask me. the story would've made a good game, but not a movie.) |

3 takes place on the same island as 2 i believe, isla sorna. i know that's where the book took place anyway, the test island. i believe they at least followed the book's plot THAT much in the movie. but i could be wrong, it's been a while since i've read the book (though i read it twice before the movie came out), and even longer since i saw the movie once in the theater .. i could never bring myself to watch it again |

i was in the mood for a good laugh, so i just went out and rented the lost world dvd. i remember it being a lot worse.
so i've changed my opinion, 3 is the worst of the series in my view |

Well, being an amateur palaeontologist as well as a creative guy, I fell in love with the first Jurassic Park. It's one of the few films I can remember nearly crying at...hahaha...sounds silly, but when that Brachiosaur was walking and John William's score was playing...it was like a childhood dream come true. Even as big as a fan I am of the Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen stuff, these dinos were nearly real. My wife and I had a chance to visit some of the locations on Kauai, Hawaii where they filmed most of JP during our honeymoon last year. Very cool. But the combination of characters, dinos, locations and sense of adventure made Jurassic Park a landmark movie.
The second film was fun, but not as good as the story in the book and the images in my head were definitely better in some respects. However, each time I watch it, it gets better. Of course I try and fast forward the terrible gymnastics sequence on the DVD everytime. The San Diego stuff was neat to see as well and was an interesting spin on what would happen if Dinos made it to the mainland. This potential wasn't explored enough, but was still done fairly well. I also visited the location in San Diego during the Comic-Con in '96 and so I appreciated the movie a bit more. There are still quite a few plot holes and inaccuracies in the second one as well, but one can still enjoy it for a good dino flick. And the characters are far more developed in the second one than the third and possibly the first film. And after watching it again and again, I catch more movie homages then the previous time.
The third film wasn't as good as I had hoped but not as bad as it could have been either. Having known that Joe Johnston was involved, I was anxious that he'd do this one justice. His October Sky was a remarkable story and film. I expected more. The CG was both incredibly well done (espcially the Spinosaurus and T-Rex battle) at parts and hugely cheesy and low quality in others. Kudos to the Framestore Guys in the UK for surpassing the JP dinos in Walking With Dinosaurs and the upcoming Dinotopia. The characters were very cardboard in Jurassic Park III and didn't have the same impact as the first film. Sam Neill is great, but I missed the humor and stature provided by Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm. Tea Leoni's character is pretty much a whiner the whole film, William H. Macy is funny, and the son is just there. The fact that the mercenaries carry around these big @$$ guns and all you hear is these puny gunshots in the jungle during the landing sequence is nearly pointless. What the heck did Alan Grant mumble on the satellite phone while they were drowning?! I still couldn't figure it out after the second time, but it got Ellie Satler's attention, who was there just as a loose end tie-up as John Hammond was in the second film. The ending was humorous but a letdown. That's where the movie should have kicked into really high gear, but instead it stopped short. Literaly. Too short of a film.
I was expecting Jim Cameron's Jurassic Park, but got something far less. We needed to have the military bad@$$es battle it out against some dinos but sadly none of that happened. The ending shouldn't have been left the way it was. The military would have shot those Ptero's down. Some great matte work in this movie, some great action sequences, and yes some let downs, but still a fun movie. Yes, that dino dream had me laughing quite a bit as well.
And some of my palaeo friends that I went with found a lot of inconsistencies with the third film, but most actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

i didn't really have any problem with the characters in jp3. they served their purpose. grant was the voice of reason, as per usual. william h macy and tea leoni both played their parts great. they were not experts, or experienced in anything remotely like this, especially tea. she's the typical woman who screams when scared .. nothing else. i liked the kid, because he was so much like timmy from the first BOOK. he knew his shit.
the actual story, and the crap that happened in the movie is why i dislike it. i mean, come on .. the phone? assuming it survived the teeth, it's now down in his stomach. assuming it's not eaten by acids, how exactly does the ring which you could barely hear in the plane when it was right in front of them, carries THROUGH every layer of the dino, through several layers of forrest, and comes out loud and clear a few hundred yards away?
... some things were just stupid, the first movie was SMART. sure, there were slips here and there .. but you left the theater feeling like you knew a lot about palentology and dinosaurs. the second too, to a certain extent. after seeing 3, i felt more stupider |
