I am working on a illustration contest, I started out with a rough sketch with no idea of where to go... Idea kind of evolved.. Went back and forth from Computer to print out and draw over... Any suggestion on Backdrop welcome, also Crits on Anatomy or Lighting.

Yes .. Great work. I think the anatomy looks right.. and the lightning is hard to tell when there isn�t any backround/ natural Lightsource.
Bring in the red hair on the final image  it looks real cool.
The first pose with the fingers stretched out just makes me think that he is struck with something.. a large lightning in the chest or something, a "powerup" from his God
btw,,, Whats "WIP"??
You just inspired me to make an own ArchAngel. |

I have to finish the peice by Friday.. So Ill keep it updated.

sweet manm this pic is great, i love how it all came together. i agree tho, try the red hair nice anatomy and all too, wings are beautiful!

Here is a updated Pic.. Still WIP.. But getting there..
If you have ideas for a background, I am all ears..
Also I am working with an a CMYK image, so colors might be off when I convert to RGB. IT looks a lot less green in Painter, then in Internet Explorer.

Its turning out real good.. as for the background it depends on your setting What I mean .. it could be a city behind him(modern time) or in some abstract plane.. or preferably in some kind of temple.
i just couldn�t drop that lightning-flash-in-chest idea we talked about before ;-)
So I did a little Paintover to give you an idea on what I mean.
Hope you dont mind.

SWEET!..i like the color you chose for the backround and the lightning tendrils look cool! 
it would also be cool if the backround was large war between other angels/or demons happening at the backround... |
