Hi all! I wanted to post some pictures of another sculpture I'm working on which will become a Model kit or painted figure.

This is a sculpture of an ancient chinese warrior. She is a Kung-fu martial artist and will have a long spear like weapon.

She is adorned in a decorative motif. I still have some work to do on her. I need to finish her ear, I need to add soles to her feet, add some more decoration to her outfit and a base to stand on of some sort.

She is made out of Super Sculpey clay which I colored Blue. Her arms have been cut off so I can make molds of her and cast her in resin.

I'm looking for any comments. I really appreciate feedback. I hope you dig her. Thanks for looking.

Looks great! What company do you work for? What medium do you use? How do you end up casting this? I'm impressed. I look forward to seeing more of you work!
Sort of looks like Xena in the Far-East episodes!!!! Cool!

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. That means alot.

I actually make figures and sell them. I will have a website up soon.

I make resin model kits and I am thinking of making some that are fully built and painted as well.

I'll post some pics of some of my other sculptures soon.

looks awesome.. i really like the way the clothes fold and wrinkle yet still allow the underlying forms to show through.

just out of curiosity- how long does it take to create such a detailed model?

I have my own company called DarkStorm Studios. I debuted my first models a little over a year ago. I have also done some work for a few other model companies. But I like doing my own thing for the creative freedom. My new website will debut soon.

I take the original sculpture and make a 2 part silicone rubber mold. I then pour resin into it and cast the sculpture.

It will usually take me about 3 weeks give or take. Depends on how fired up I am about the sculpture and how much time I have.

Here is a new pic of one of my favorite sculptures I did last year. Its Boris Karloff as Frankenstien. Hope you all like it also...

DAAAAAAAAAAANM!!! that looks good!!! (massive undersatement) wish I could help you more.
The only thing I see is that maybe her eyes seem to be too high up on her head, but that just may be me. The amount of detail is incredible. Are you doing this for fun or for work?

its really nice to see other things on this forum, and i love sculpture

i have other questions

what tools do you use for sclupting that ? could you post photos of the tools you use and photos of the wire skeletons you use (of course not for this one, but for the next could you take a pic of the skeleton before "fleshing" it) ?

and what kind of references did you have for the chinese girl ?
and for the boris frankenstein ?

damn this is inspiring me, i need to buy some of this clay and try things

Yes, I will document my next sculpture from begininng to end and put it in a tutorial section on my new website which should be up soon.

I'll also post some pics of my tools in a day or two along with another small sculpt I did today.

My reference material on the Monster was basically any pics of Boris Karloff I could find. I bought some books, downloaded some images from the net and even took a video of Frankenstein, did some screen captures and put them on my computer to look at. Basically you want all angles when going for a likeness.

The Martial Art girl was differnt. I just used a couple headshots of a martial arts girl I saw in a Kung Fu magazine and I looked at some poses in those mags as well to help me with the pose. Most of it is my own.
