Ok, running out of time on this project so sadly I'll just have to turn it in unfinished. I seem to be setting a bad trend for this class grr. So I'm throwing it up here for everyone to get a good laugh at my deplorable lack of talent.
Hrmm, ok, self-critique time: best work from photo reference next time as your anatomy is just totally screwed up. Do something about that ear. Finish the hair, it is starting to look interesting. Give her eyebrows you ninny how could you forget that?! The good professor will fry you alive if you don't fix that! Face is too squished. Lighting is all totally messed up. Finish the background too while you're at it eh? Ok done beating myself up, it is your turn! |

Her head is quite stretched out and the shading on the neck and face is really rough. I'm not too clear on what you're trying to go for here. |

That's the best self critique I've read in a long time.
Pure magic.
It all depends what you were trying to do. If it's a fairly realistic person with fairly surreal hair you're after then you'll want to work on it some.
Generally I'd say this kind of thing would benefit from stronger colours, the hair in particular. Too much of the base colours washing it out. |

Hi Gothic Gerbil, I like you pic so I did my own version with even stranger colours. A little rough but it was fun. Hope you don't mind.

Nah, don't mind at all! Yours looks really good. I fixed up mine a bit but ran out of time and still didn't get the head exactly as I would have liked it. That angle was really difficult for me for some reason. Oh well, still almost got a full grade for it, just missed one slight red blotch that was creating static when I moved the head and hair down a little bit.
And thanks for the stronger colours suggest Muzman! I implemented that a bit (not as much as I would have liked, but ran out of time yet again) and it worked good. And just realized I still forgot to add the eyebrows when I painted over the face. I must have some deep festering hatred for eyebrows buried in my subconscious! |
