Well gosh, since you basically just copied a drawing by Michael Turner, I don't know what kind of advice I can give.

Alen Let it run like water off a duck back.

Guys, piss off. You don't have to be lippy or rude. Just say, 'I'd like it if it was more of a original concept' Some people like to colour others work. You didn't give fluff when someone else coloured Isirics or Hamiltons, and anyone elses work.

If everyone was to draw all the stuff that they wanted to colour, (and not all are talented with the pencil) they would have a headache due to crits on the drawing rather than the colouring that they wanted to practice.

Alen for future refrence, I think clearity of ones work and intentions are needed here. Everyone here seems to jump a others nuts. I myself might be guilty of the same.

As for your colouring looks okay to me her back to me seams off balace with the rest.
Was it your intention to leave it as a character based focus. I thinks it worked if you did. I might only suggest that mixing in just a hint of other colours to her suit and tones could make it more dynamic.

Just some thoughts.
JA
ps I would like to see something more original from you.

If your not good with the pencil, then you shouldn't be coloring. Coloring is the next step after you understand drawing. You dont just skip basic drawing and go right into color theory.

Hmm I don't like the back, in pencilwork you need the lines but when you color it you should smudge them into muscle contours... i think
btw I know shit

no more flame war peoples...if Alen wants to practice with his colours..let him do so. Theres no absolute rule saying that we "all" have to know how to draw to colour something. When we were all wee lil ones, we used to colour lineart did we not? And Alen, I dont know what the story is with the pic, but if anybody copys/traces/uses works of other people, all we ask is to just give them credit. Easy as done. btw, nice colours.
Cheers yall

There is nothing wrong with copying.. (as n8 said, as long as credit is given)

There is no need to be abusive, in pointing this out.

just lets keep it calm guys, we want comments to be constructive.

I don't remember saying that this girl was my creation...
I just posted the picture to see how many would actually recognize aspen since i did a crappy pencil job, imo.
And i apologize for not giving credit..

So..
Fathom is Michael Turner's creation, not mine.
I just really liked the comic, and started doing some of his work...

anyway.. thanks for the comments.
.. didn't mean to start a flame war, sorry.
peace.

see? now everything is better.

(btw. when you don't say it's someone else's work, you *imply* that it's yours. that's how it works here. that's how it works in most places IIRC.)

Im not the greatest penciller, but it seems i have a way with color and since ive started coloring my pencil work has gotten alot better with minimal practice.

Oh and her bangs should cast shadows along her face

I agree with basement bound.

Please lets be polite.

I also agree that it is good practise to reference your work and give credit to the original artist who inspired you. This way people won't think you are passing off others work as your own.

Also, I know a few guys that are awesome colourists that can't draw to save their lives. Drawing, inking, colouring all can be separate professions in the comic world.

Personally, I can see why some of the responses were pissed off, and thats Alens fault. Anyways, to Alen, don't feel shocked if you post something the way you did and get a telling off because if you forgot to mention that Micheal Turner illustrated it the original drawing, people will call you on it. Other than that, I look forward to seeing more of your coloring, keep it up Alen.

P.S.Would you want to collaborate on a drawing?-I draw and you color. Let me know.

Yeah, it's my fault.
I guess i was hoping you guys could figure out that it's mike's on your own...

Anyway, jc, sure we could collaborate.
It's just that you'll have to be patient since i rarely have time to finish any of my work.
Don't worry though, i'll come through.

Here's another side project i started.
It's a design for a tribes 2 t-shirt...

I drew half of his head, scanned it, and then reflected it... now i have to refine it so it doesn't look like a mirror image.

both are quite nice.
the girls back seems a bit flat and i have the feeling that the place, her leg goeas over the edge of the board, it should be slightly squeezed.
the derm: yeah, just looks too mirrored right now but keep em coming

Alan,
don't let someone being a jerk get to you, just give them an appropriate rating.

I don't have a problem with any of this, especially since it's here in the WIP board.

A note on your Tribes 2 image... i'd extend his chin over so that you see the corners of it on either side of the horns.
Right now it's a situation where either could be in front/ wierd tangent / whatever.

keep it up,
jerO

thanks man.

i see what you mean, but i'm afraid it'd make his chin look too big.. if that's the case, i might draw in a little bit of the hair sticking out underneath both of the horns.
i'll have to check on that, thanks for pointing it out.
