OK, heres my second attempt. I dont have the money for a Wacom yet, so this is all done with the mouse. The figure isant how I would like it shape wise. But Im playing with paints and stuff to see what all I can come up with.

This is the main pic, not titled. I tried to use powerful colors with a theme. In this case yellows, oranges, and some browns. At first the sun was what I was most happy with. But after finishing the man and his energy shield I just didnt feel so happy about it.

Detail - Face



I actualy did a good amount of detail thats masked by the energy shield. All thats left is the eye brow and lashes.

Detail - Fist



I didnt feel it looked like he was clinching his fists. So I attempted to add some energy waves to add intensity. Not exactly what I imagined. But what do you think?

since he's mostly just a silhouette, you ought to show more than just part of the head and arm; it's kind of confusing. looks like you used a lot of filters- yuck. maybe you can give the fist some knuckles. i like the colors.

He looks like Human Torch without the finesse. I think his chin and chest should be a bit smaller.

Well I am back with yet another paint over.
I really like the start of your picture. I thought the composition could use a little reworking, as well some slight color tweeks.
I added some complimentary colors to punch up the glow effect. I also played with the contrast. I hope you like my suggestions, as much as I liked your original piece. Keep up the good work.
