hi.
this is something roughly painted over a few hours... found a photo of a 60ies or so playboy model, suited well since I never really got to do figure studies before. just wanted to check for your thoughts before taking it any further. thanks!

You've never done a figure study before? It kinda looks like you painted over the actual picture itself. |

kaligula: thanks I guess. I feared this would come up. how could I prove you wrong? I have the reference photo open in acdsee, while painting in photoshop, I choose all colors from my own interpretation. whats the point with painting over a photo? I take credit when you thought this was done that way, but feel sad about not being taken seriously.
here's the ref photo. put it over my painting and you'll see all the flaws, I discovered many of them when I looked at the photo vs. the painting again. oh well, its not a work in progress for nothin... Id still like ppls input, and yeah I can see that the head is too small...

HEh. doesn't look half too bad. the colors aren't exactly matcfhing either. You need to use a more reddish color and darker shadows in some areas. Looks good so far, and you may also want to finish up the face.
The thing about porn... is not so much the body itself, but it's actually in the face. Generally the expression and the eyes.. That's the only reason they usually have heads in the pictures. I mean.. you'd get bored if it was just boobies and ass 24/7, it's all about face
oh yah, if i forgot to mention it. good pic. |

Daryl,
Cool man...
Looks like with your painting, the head is a bit small and your version is less curvy (wider waist). Other than that...pretty cool...I beef up the lights and darks a bit..but ahhh I am so into lights and darks heh.

kaligula, compare the two (or just look closely at the first) it's not a figure study, proportions look (slightly) inconsistent in the first, and if you compare them you can see (among other differences) the shoulder height is different compared to the head. so Kal- apologize |

Thats a pretty good start for first try. I'm impressed and am curious as to how far you will take it. |
