As you can see from the screen capture, the video drivers that I'm currently using for my ELSA Gladiac Geforce 2 GTS only allow you to set the refresh rate up to 75Hz...the optimal setting is even lower. This is irritating because I know that my monitor is able to have a refresh rate of at least over 100hz at 1280x1024 which is the rez I'm running right now.
The updated drivers from the manufacturer of my card allow me to set the refresh rate higher, so it can't be the limitations of my card. The reason I'm not using those drivers is that they makes things look uglier than the NVIDIA Detonator 3 drivers do, the drivers I'm using right now.
Still with me?
Does anyone know of a program or a trick that allows you to set the refresh rate higher than what is listed in the display properties dialogue box? This has the potential to screw up my monitor, I know, But I'll probably only go as high as 100Hz as not to risk breaking anything.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! |

A driver for you monitor might make a difference here. I assume it's playing it safe with an 'unknown' monitor type, which the monitor driver would help with. I could be wrong. |

It turned out that I solved the problem with a different combination of video card and monitor drivers like Frost said. I was able to get up to 85Hz at the rez I'm running, which I was willing to settle for even though 100Hz wasn't an option.
I also found the HZtool at http://hem.passagen.se/doxx Allthough I'm not sure If the software actually overrides your pre-set refresh rate.
