Hi,
Right now I am working on an 11x17 poster, and it has two warriors in flight(super heroes) battling eachother over a city... But Im afraid to start drawing the city, because I don't know how I should go about doing it.. Should it be 1 point, or something like 3 point, and if its 3 point how does that work, I've never done 3 point before. 2 Point I don't think would work for this situation, but I dont know.. The city is supposed to be like those scenes in comics where you see superman or something above a city, and its somewhere like 3/4th view.. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jesse Acosta

im thinking 3 point would be cool, that always gives me the feeling of looking down on buildings. i don't really have time to explain it right now though, plus im sure there are plenty of people better at it than i am. maybe you could show us what you have so far so we can see what you're talking about.

If you're gonna do 3 point perspective, here's how you'd go about it:

You have your horizon line (red), 2 vanishing points (V.P.)on the horizon and one down below somewhere. (green) Start off by picking a corner for a building, then draw down to your lower V.P. Draw from the original corner point to a horizon V.P. for the front walls of the building. For the rear walls, draw from the corner to the opposing V.P. (left corner goes to right V.P. and vice versa). Draw from the ground floor up to the horizon V.P. for the bases of your walls, then simply draw a line between your roof and your ground for walls. Then repeat for the rest of your buildings.

Hope this helps. Enough procrastination for me! @:-)

Hi heard something about "cone of vision" where things outside the cicle, come out wonky and incorrect.. Does this take effect in a 3 point picture like you showed above?
Thanks,
Jesse

Yeah, the wonkiness of the cone o' vision does take place. It's best if you frame off the picture, like put the city on an island, put the scene between trees, have streets on the edges, etc etc.

Best thing to do is do a coupla little sketch cities, and see what works.

if theyre in middle air i think the 3:rd point should be quite high up... then it seems like you really are right above the houses... but still with fov below 120
