Errrrr...may I say that I didn't like it neither?
I mean, I loved those effects and so, but the story seemed really stupid to me, not telling about Mr. Reeves acting as the hero. He didn't fit that play...
Don't flame me by expressing my opinions...

Perhaps not you, but not only can I dodge them, but I can multiply, screen or burn and at my will too.

The Matrix movie itself was 45% crap. It moved from adrenaline action to dreary, soaking moments with no segue's whatsoever. The ending was formulaic, which contradicted the otherwise sort-of original plot. The acting was Disney-like (read as "dismal most of the time"). The movie was also too short.

BUT.

The action was fairly unprecedented, it set new standards for your super-fast sci-fi movie, it's gonna have sequels (and not just money-grubbers; movies that were originally designed to be part of a series tend to pull off really well in the end), Trinity has cool pants.

The ideas presented in the movie were essentially very, very, very clever bible stories. There is so many things that all tie into this movie that it makes you question the actual reality of the situation. The ideas are what really made the movie shine, because they took it one step above all of your other sci-fi/shooters.

That and it had a gatling gun. Those are cool. :p

and yes the movie is soo realistic, I'm able to stop bullets with my mind if I belive I can

Recite this everyday:

"I am 1 with the Matrix"

next try jump from 2000m building to a 2100m building if u make it you are 1 with the matrix

But if u want to be The One Get people to throw rocks at u and try freeze them in the air and try look at them with wireframe/digital 1010 marking over the rock.

I only got pass stage 1

The plot was pretty crappy, in my opinion. It's "the terminator" except the robots are keeping us alive... and to top that, they were even nice robots, they tried to give us paradise, but we puny humans couldn't take so much pleasure. What the (*$& is the problem here? does it really matter if we are in the "real" world. Reality is your perception of it, the matrix was more of a reality to the people born and raised in it. I would be perfectly fine living in a "matrix" OK lets see our choices here we got.... 20th century "matrix" or the "real" dismal future where there is no sulight. I dont care if im eating liquified human remains as long as it tastes like steak(and i'm being properly nourished).

Apart from that it had stupid nicknames ("Neo"?), Keaneuaeua Reeves was the star!!!(im not sure if it was a good or bad cast though, i mean he did have the dumbfounded part down, but when he becomes the "savior"...ugh)

The action wasn't that great, i mean there are a TON of sci-action movies out there with better action.

The story has been done before (somewhat)
such as Jacob's Ladder... now that was a real trip, it's basically the matrix, w/o the whole future part, and it was done a LOT better. And he didn't have a team of SUPER FRIENDS to help him...

The one thing i remember that i really like in the movie was when the helicopter crashed into the side of the building.

I like this movie slightly more than The Crow: City of Angels, and Battlefield Earth.

Read Necromancer by oh.. whats his name... Gibson. The matrix was pretty much entirely based on that novel. Great novel though.

Ok,

Were you talking about it being a GOOD movie? Because it is clrealy not that. It's not Kurosawa and it's not Blade Runner and it's not Spinal Tap. We know that. But don't look at it that way. Take it for what it is: a summer popcorn movie with more style than substance.

I think sometimes poeple just have to lighten up when they watch these movies. The matrix had cool music, cool action, cool villians (I mean cmon, how could you not like the agents), and a plot that, even if it wasn't 100% original, at least wasn't completely overused a million times before.

Anyway, when I think real good sci-fi, I think Event Horizon (and Trigun!).

Blade Runner (the movie) was hella crap, compared to the book, which was hella average as far as sci-fi goes.

A.Buttle (i'm bolding your name not as imitation, but as wit), Kurosawa fucking rocks. There's this one flick of his that I can't remember the name of. The ronin/samurai comes into a town ruled by two gangs, and he uses ancient art of Japanese treachery to get the two to destroy each other. Alas.. I would purchase the movie, but the name evades me..

Impaler,

The movie is called Yojimbo. It has a sequel called Sanjuro. It was remade as A Fistfull Of Dollars starring Clint Eastwood. Criterion Collection has released both of these films, along with Seven Samurai and High And Low. Hidden Fortress, Rashomon, and Kagemusha are forthcoming. Ran is also available, but it's a transfer from the Lasedisc version.

And Blade Runner kicked ass. It was much better than Event "Hellraiser In Space" Horizon.

As wit?

Aye to that, Blade Runner is The Hobbit of science fiction.

But, we are all obligated to our own opinions, even if you are retarded.

Ummm.. hi guys. I thought matrix was pretty stupid too. Just hard to explain why it was stupid htough. I mean.....hey it got all those neat effects, some cool lines.... like "there is no spoon," "i can only show you the door but you have to enter" "if your dreams are so real and noone woke you up how would you know what's reality or not"" yah some stuff close to that. but other than that, I thought matrix sucked.

a.) ... why neo? why neo? half the movie was crap. ... and pretty damn random. follow the rabbit?
b.) ummmm..... too chunky
c.) plot disappeared at end

..... i mean.... if you think about it, that guy who was on the "matrix team" and got bad, why didn't he do that earlier? and kill off the whole matrix team before they even had a chance to et to neo?

agent idea is kinda stupid.... sure you have these agents all over and they could be your best friend your best enemy.... so how do you know if your an angent or not..

crap i tell you crap! ok.... i think im done ranting.

i hate the movie.

Matrix was a little over-rated, the mix of bad acting with pretty good special effects made it average. The story has been done before numerous times, so the sequals aren't going to be impressive.

Um, I think you're talking about Neuromancer.
Necromancer would be something very diffrent.

If you are really craving a reality-check experience go lock yourself in a room and read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Good ol Kurtz.
