I wanted to practise perspective by doing this. I like how it turned out, even though the fellow running away is too small. And the hair of the girl is a bit too rigid, I suppose.. Anyway, I'm just too tired to fix anything right now. I would like to add decent shadows and lighting, but I'll see if I have the interest to continue this one. My problem really is I'm very bad at finishing anything, I do have loads of sketches though

Good sketch. Try to break it down into light and shade now.

Great sketch, man! I really like the perspective. One thing that I would suggest is working on the female's balance because it looks like she's about to fall down the stairs because her weight is so far forward. Just bring her center of balance back a bit and you'll be set!

Perspective books have relatively simple methods of measuring out things properly... like your small fellow in the background. This is a great start. I'd suggest, instead of improving on this one, move on to a new one, and hone your approach.

As a point of possible interest... I used to hate perspective... now I absolutely love it.

just reintitle it, "Girl About to Break her Leg" perspective is one of my favorites because it combines my to favorite subjects, math and art. But the annoying part is that they keep reteaching it in school. I think I knew almost all of the rules of perspective in grade 6 or 7. For the next couple years I would be retaught 1 point, 2 point and the infamous 3 point as though I didn't know any of it. Now I am in grade nine and we're learning it again. Both in Art class and in tech class. I pretty much know more about it than the teacher. Sigh

Light: That's exactly what I wanted to do next. That is going to be difficult for me, since I have very little experience about rendering. Maybe I will do a quick sketch from this one and try to render the quick one first. Because I've got this feeling that I'm going to mess up the rendering at least on the first try.

feebsaint: I like perspective too, I've been drawing mere objects for a long time, and one day I realised my drawings never had backgrounds. And that was because I didn't know about perspective enough and the bad background usually would have ruined the picture. So I borrowed this book from the library a couple of months ago and I'm really interested about the subject.

Wrath: I agree that the girl is about to jump the whole staircase down with one leap, and probably will end up in a wheelchair. But I think that's what makes this picture interesting, it somehow describes the rage that the girl has. She really sees only the guy trying to escape and is going to kill him right now no matter the cost. I'm afraid the change of balance would make this picture less enthustiastic, more like "we're just running around the blocks, until either of us gets tired".

Dan: Well, that's good for you. You should talk to your teachers and skip the lessons, I'm sure they're not idiots.
