According to my cousin,(USAF-ret) basically the Chinese got a plane. The crew did a wonderful job of chucking the advanced gear out of it into the ocean below. Also anything left on board they are trained to render inoperable.(re-break into as small of bits as possible)

He said the one mistake the crew made was to actually land the plane in Chinese territory, rather than bailing out & ditching the plane into the ocean with all of the avionics & surveillence gear onboard.

Because;
A) International waters. US could go salvage the "good stuff" without dealing w/China
B) Ditching a plane pretty much renders the "fancy stuff" useless.

yeah i dont think the chinese got much out of it. besides all of them hating america because they control the press. don't get me wrong, i dont think everything my government does is great, but i have a hard time believing that such a large plane veered so quickly that a small jet got his by it.

i would find it hard to believe the crew dumped much of anything over a turd. the hardware was still intact on the plane when it landed, you can see evidence of the anantennas and pods in the released pics.
sure they might have had fancy computers on board, but its the hardware covering the outer-body of the plane thats the real shit.

2nd They received training on how to destroy sensitive equipment in the plane in the event of a forced landing. Do you really think a spy plane would not get the same, if not more training on the matter?

Honestly guys, we're fucked. The chinese know it was their fault cuz that damn chinese pilot was cutting off and harassing our spy plane. Anyway, the ep3 was descending too fast..., if they crashed in the ocean, they would have most likely all died. Second, they couldn't parachute because they had to destroy the equipment.. even if they did land and kill themselves to destroy all sensitive data, the chinese would haul the spy plane back into their territory and get all the info, and just claim they were trying to save the lives of the americans.

at this point the chiense has custody of our ep3 and .... that ladies and gentlemen fucks us over. They can first reap all the design specs from it, possibly advancing them a few steps in aviation. Furthermore, the data that claimed to have been destroyed may still be recoverable, the only surefire way to destroy em is breaking everything into teeny itzy pieces...
