while doing my homework on wacom tablets, i came across their little quiz to see which size tablet it good for me. all was fine and dandy until i came across the question, what is your stroke size. my options were small, medium or large. so what is stroke size? is it how far the wrist can reach in order to create a 'stroke'? and about how big is a small/medium/large stroke? |

You could relate it to your wrist movement size... but what it is intended for is a measurement of your drawing personality, it refers to the size of your average drawing area, whether you draw teeny little drawings with small pecky strokes or use lots of space with big sweeping strokes. depending on your style you should get a tablet size that suits you.
Choose a tablet which will give you some room to expand a little, yet also relate to your drawing style and budget of course.
I would recommend that a 6*8 is perfect for most people. I have a 9*12 and due to my drawing style I don't use all of it! but for me I wanted the extra room to place drawings under the transparent overlay and this does come in handy occaisionally. Also for me the difference between a 6*8 and a 9*12 was not that great in terms of price. You should see the look on ppl's eyes when they see this whopping great tablet! hehe, that's irrelevant though.
Consider your desk space too, having a larger tablet can be a practical nightmare, it can get heavy too and unweildy if you rest it on your lap or whatever...
Hope that helps. |

oh yeah... forgot to mention that. Zak highlighted the fact that a 6*8 inch tablet means that the active working area is 6*8 inches, on top of that there is some extra border around it. 9*12 inch tablets have a 9*12 inch active area.
I think you get the gist.. |
