Hey all,

I've just installed Photoshop 7 and now I'm running into problems with my Wacom. I was on 6 before this and it took a little tweaking but finally I got the hang of it.

Now that I've installed 7 everything has gone wrong. The problem I have is that I can't seem to drag my pen across the canvas without leaving a trail.

I also have a problem in selecting things with my tip. It is set to left click, but it doesn't seem to be selecting. It does and it doesn't. Could this be the reason. Please any tips would be great.

I have set everything to default, and have photoshop 7 in my customized application box. I really don't know what to do about it...so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically I only want to be able to lift my pen without leaving a trail.

Then the last part is in customising my brushes. In 6 when I used the pull down shortcut for the brushes it had a simple choice, now you have to scroll the brushes down. Is there a way to make the brushes simpler.

If you're using windows, try deleting Wacom.dat file (you'll find it with the windows search function). Then reboot. That's the file that has all the custom settings in it. Unfortunately, that resets all the settings to the factory defaults. Just normal reset to defaults won't always work, as wacom.dat might be corrupted. Deleting the file should fix it.

At least that's what the wacom employees recommend for most problems, and it's always worked for me

thanks asurfael, I deleted the wacom.dat file, and it set everything back to default so that is fine but still nothing in photoshop.

I think there is something with my 'left click' i.e my nib, because it doesn't seem to be clicking, and selecting. It seems to be selecting randomly or something. I have the top one set as another button set as double left click and that is essentially what I've been working with. I click it outside the canvas and then I can move freely over the canvas then using pressing the button when I want to use it. I just don't think that this is the way to go about it. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems or if I'm just doing something wrong.

Pls help me, cheers

Try changing the nib of the pen. If that doesn't solve your problem, it is possible that your pen has a manufacturing fault or something that has only appeared now. I know my pen worked fine for a while and then started bitching, and it was faulty. I think you should contact your wacom importer's support (or the wacom messageboards at http://www.wacom.com ). If they can't help you out, they'll probably tell you to send it in for repair anyhow. I got a new tablet sent to me in 2 weeks, and the new one's working like a dream. My problem was that the tablet didn't always react to the pen nib ie the cursor wouldn't move. Maybe there's something wrong with the equipment itself?
