when a peice starts dragging on - you probably have set your goal too high. I know this happens to me sometimes. Are you trying to acheive that ephemeral *feel* that makes it *wow*?

Here is an idea I have been thinking about:

We commonly associate creativity with originality - therefore we believe that we can create things out of nothing. So tend not to plan outcomes and set realistic goals because we believe that these will somehow evolve during the creative process...

However - Design in all its forms like illustration for a client is about 'problem solving'. the results are thus never original in a sense - it is just the most effective answer to the problem that you are capable of giving. e.g. using images of stereos and sound waves for a music site. the results are always determined. I know this is pretty pedantic but my point is that this structuring and determining outcomes has to extend to your own creative process - or else you fall in to the trap of trying to analyse the meaning of creativity.

creativity does not exist.
design is problem solving.
necessity is the mother of all invention.

just my thoughts. whadoyoureckon?

Take a break. Go out. Play games. Watch TV. Work out. Read. Go shopping.
