Personally I like the idea of having a 3d only section. It would allow those who want to focus on that area a convenient place to find information and artwork on the topic they are interested in. You could even have 4 sub forums if you wanted, Modeling, texturing, Animating, and Lighting.
Anyways I think its a good idea, but thats just me.

i like the idea of a SINGLE 3d Board also.... but now you get some tips from anyone means a typical "oil-painter" will see the 3d image... maybe he will never visit the 3d board.

I think that would suck. Theres hundreds of 3d boards out there where you can get your technical 3d questions answered. This is a good place for getting general artsy criticism.

If we have a 3dboard us 3d people wont even get a look in by all the awesome traditional artists that live here.

I dont think it will happen, didnt we have a vote on it? and dhabih seemed to be against it...

Even though I'm a 3D artist, I'm not keen on a 3D forum. I think it'll just turn into a Lightwave,3DStudioMax, Maya flame war. I think that the popularity of the current digital art forums is due to that it's inclusive since just about everyone has Photoshop. Once you get into 3D forums you start excluding alot of people when you get into specific 3D applications and especially when you start going into inverse kinematics, spline modeling, UV mapping, blahblahblah. There's already a ton of good mailing lists and 3D websites. Just join www.cg-char.com. It's a full time job just keeping up with the discussions on that mailing list alone.
