(I'm not sure how new this is)
Apparently Geocities are moving in line with Angelfire and xoom and all those others to bar external links of images and so forth. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/geo/geo-10.html
I'd imagine this will affect a lot of people around here. No longer can you host your stuff on Geocities and embed an image in a post here. Only links to html files with the geocities front end and advertising etc are allowed.
There's a petition to bitch about it here
http://www.123petitions.com/cgi-bin/system/[email protected]$2
Are there any free hosts left that don't do this now? Does anyone know?
(-edit- ok I promise to read furthur down the page in future. Still, the petition link is fresh )

If you just need space for your pictures you could try zing.com OR photopoint, but they put that little *hosted by photopoint* at the top of all of your pictures, which is kinda annoying |

Virtualave.net works great, though they have ugly banners, so i only store my pics for posting there.

Try freeservers.com ... I'm pretty sure they let you link out. |

you can still link to your geocities images, just write the URL with the www. replaced with fp.
test it, it works.
do not distribute this info further, as they'll prob. change it again if you do. |

heh, something tells me its already distributed. I was just gonna post the same thing. I wonder how long it'll be before they plug that hole.
Anyways hypermart is another place without linking restrictions |
