Hey I have an idea that's a consequence a result of my insomnia.

A Sijun Forum's Book.

How wonderful would that be to any artist. We would have so much information on so many different subjects contained in this book, so many great pictures, so many techniques, and discussions. If we we're able to put all the wonderful info provided by the users it would be the ultimate art book, don't you think? I don't know how we would ever put it together but I'm sure we could.

This is just probably one of my whacky ideas but I'd know I would definately buy the book.

That would be cool. Maybe a website? like a sort of fan site section of sijun? I'm just repeating what you have said. There is a lot of useful info and inspirational stuff here. It is a pity that all old threads go to the grave.

Like Dhab said this community has over 2800 users! thats a lot of ppl! I'd say we have a very special thing going here.

If you're thinking of an actual, printed, bound volume made of paper, then I have just one question... do you know how much full-color printing costs?

Now, if we have 2800 users, and we could get US$10 out of each and every one of them, then there'd be a budget...

Otherwise, an electronic book on CD would eb much more feasible...

Great idea! As we mentioned in this other thread the other day... but who would scan the forums and search for usefull information? Probably none of the people who know enough about it... they have a life of their own.

what a magnificient idea!

instead of going to www.sijun.com we can put tons of effort into writing a book about the crap and trying to land a publisher and get it out and lose tons of money and then wait half a year to get our copies where we can watch ourselves draw white matte cubes! i'm in!

shut up Faust,

it's a lot easier for newbies to read in a seperate book/webpage than to scan and scan for some interesting threads.

If someone has the energy to put a book together, we should support that as good as we can

Hell yeah. Awesome idea.

I doubt Dhabih has time to deal with it though. He rarely checks the forum as it is already. Should people be assigned parts of the task?

I expected that out of Faustgfx, and it doesn't bother me, nor it should. But burn0ut could you explain your opinion, this being a discussion and all.

I admit this a pretty hard thing to accomplish, but I'm sure we could. I do think a cd is a really good idea though. Alot more plausible and easier. It could even be a zip file. I don't care I know there is so much information on this forum that has been around and lost in the archives and could help many many people out.

I will take a guess as to why people think it's not a brilliant idea

All content for a possible book already exists on this page, so.. why not just make a page with links to all the intersting topics? it would several hundred times easier and just as effective

Even making a CD is not possible. The most obvious problem being ownership of the content. I think the comments posted belong to the owner of the server, but since the images are just links, they belong to the artist, making it fairly impossible to sell them in any way

Is it just me or hasn't ant allready started this in the Threads O Knowledge thred?

What would you do with this cd?

-Hey come buy or cd containing forum threads with mini tutorials that we gathered from an online forum! 11.95! Just for you! Special prize!

I think just keeping it on the net is a better idea. As ant allready pointed out, formatting it for html and saving it on some page.
