This is my 3rd picture today, I suppose I'm being sub conciously influenced by chapel.
This took about a half hour-40 minutes with a mouse.

The shapes are kindof general, in the background, actually everywhere. I'm having a major problem making the ice slab in the forground stick out from the water, help apreciated, as always.

Your image is too blurry. I can hardly tell what's going on with the background. Use the paintbrush, not the airbrush as much. And lay off on the smudge.
There is also way too much distraction in the image. If the furry mammal is your subject make your composition reflect that.I could crop off the left half and top 4/5ths of your image and it wouldn't lose anything.
To much negative space, I guess is what I'm saying.
Drawing with a mouse is hard, but very doable. Work in very large sizes, in the thousands of pixels if you can, then size your image down. Paint with blocks of color, or scan in linework and you should be OK.
Don't be afraid to lay down some sharp borders, and take your sweet time.

I was kidof going for a small mammal againt majesatic scene type thing.

I usually use line art. this was an experiment. I'll try to work at higher pixels though. dunno if my old voodoo3 can take it
