Ok, I worked on the earlier image a bit. Just want to see if you guys think I'm heading down the right track....
Also, how much detail should I go into in the backgorund? I don't want to spend forever on my first block-painting piece...
[edit: I used a smaller version, as I don't want to use up too much bandwidth... the original image is about 1500x2270. Sorry for the lack of detail in this :/]

Hi!
To me it looks really well done, I wouldn't worry too much about detailing the background, as this tends to get distracting from the point of focus, the beautiful woman that just got stood up.
On the scaling down problem.. Maybe cut out the head/woman area in full size (or 50%) and post that too? Since that's obviously where you have put the most detail and time.

Here's the head at 100% Only problem is, I like working big and rescaling to something reasonable. So I would actually scale it down to 50% (not like 12% which I did for the entire image). Keep the detail but help the imperfections be less noticeable. |

Hydrid,
Great picture! I love the pose and they way she seems to be 'expecting' him to return. My only critique would be that her hair looks a little flat and 'un-made' for someone getting married.

I know about the hair. Enayla posted that great tutorial and I've been attempting her technique. I've been working on it to get dark hair to look right. Definitely needs work, your right... |

looks very nice, but I see one aspect there it looks like she puts her upper lip into her mouth behind the lower lip.

Yes, I would agree that it doesn't need any more detail, but there are a few areas that could use cleaning up, like her veil, or the arches at the top of the picture. |

I think the level of detail should be up to you... but usually the focus of a picture is more detailed than other areas.
I'd work on the face and figure a little more. The colors and perspective are really good.
Nice mood.
