First, I just wanted to say thanks to about 99% of you. Just from reading and looking at the images, critiques and solutions in this forum, I have improved greatly over the last few months. If I can just keep on painting, I know I'll actually do a decent paiting someday.
So...thanks!
This is obviously a painting of an angel. Tired subject, I know...but I would love any crits/suggestions. What I am working on is trying to make my images more dramatic and compose them better. There's not really a background, so I know there's not much to crit about composition.
If that doesn't work, go to http://www.mindspring.com/~ecbattle/angel.jpg
Thanks again!

That looks really impressive. I like it all for the most part but here are a couple things: I think his right shoulder that is not in the light looks flat along with the arm. I think you should give it a little bit of highlight, just not as much as his left shoulder so that is comes out a little. I really like the way you did the lighted side of the pic. The next thing is that I think his head is just a wee bit too small. Now, maybe you intended it to be that way so that the muscles stand out more than the face. I do like this picture alot. keep up the great work

good stuff..
makes me think of 'The Strong Man', A Fallen Angel.

Thanks for the crits.
solidtransient:I added some color to the dark side of his body to give it more form and I changed a few strokes on the face.
Awetopsy: Thanks. I'm pretty awful at coloring.
Here's my repaint:

Daz199: Well, the smaller head was a stylistic choice to make the body seem that much larger, but...since there's already been 2 comments on it, I'll enlarge the head a bit.
The legs are wrapped in a whitish robe.
Bradford: I probably am about 2 mins from you. What school are you going to?

When I first saw it I chuckled to myself. I imagine that this is what Glen Danzig would look like as an angel. Good Work. |

Nice work Codexier, the style is really evolving into something amazing, looking forward to more of your work.
Buford eh? You must be 2 minutes away from me as I am in Forsyth as well (home for the holidays from College).

Bradford: Ah yes, I am definately familiar with Frazetta and Vallejo. An Vebjorn is one of my favorite artists on this forum (there's so many great artists though...).
Spydur: I haven't stopped laughing. I wasn't thinking of Glen Danzig, but now...scary eh? |

something bothers me in that pic. I think maybe the angel has too much muscles, he also looks like some indian and maybe angry or something. |
