I currently almost always use the Airbrush tool in photoshop and not the paint brush as I can't seam to get subtle colours or shading with the paint brush. How do you guy's have your brushes set up, both air brush and paint brush ?.

I usually use the paintbrush with the smudge tool and the airbrush.
Nice work by the way.

A great deal depends on the input tool you are using. If you have a stylus and tablet you're way ahead. I can't remember how I ever did digital art without my Wacom Intuos. That said and assuming a tablet I suggest playing with custom brush definitions and the size and opacity check boxes under options. You should also pay attention to your brush spacing (double click on a brush in the pallet). These options offer a good amount of flexibility and provide a good range of brush behaviors.

I like the brooding barbarian King btw.

Hey, I love the pic. Great lighting and shading. The chair's design is cool. Something's wrong with his hands and legs, though.

(As to your question, I almost always use airbrush)

Great pic! I really like the hair and chair texture. His forearms and hands seem a little weird, but I'm not that good at anatomy so I wouldn't know hown to fix it.

I usually use paintbrush, airbrush and smudge tool. I switch between them and just use whatever feels right.
