That's where all of you are wrong.
You see, DerPunkt is an artist! It's the whole image-thing: "rebel" artists are supposed to be eccentric and have hissy fits about anything and everything. Duh.
Christ, what a bunch of cry babies to get offended by someone commenting on their work... There's a difference between the critique of the "layman" and a "real" art critic. So take a grip. It's like getting angry if at an art exhibition somebody doesn't like a painting you made. Ahh, screw it...

Shut up. Everyone just shut up. Leo, shut up. DerPunkt, shut up. Mongoose, shut up. This is retarded. I'm sure everyone's sick of hearing you all argue. I know I sure as hell am. If you really feel the need to argue about it, do it privately. Just don't pollute the board with this.
DerPunkt: Your picture is awesome. Yes, it could use a few small tweaks/additions, which Leo was pointing out. He may have been a bit harsh in telling you that, but it was constructive criticism nonetheless which should still be listened to. And it doesn't take huge amounts of raw skill to be able to notice certain things that could make a pic better. Whether you are a "God" in comparison to the rest of us or not, we can all find something that can make your pics better. Every single pic can be improved in some way. No matter how good a pic is, there's most likely something that can make it better. And pointing out those things is what constructive criticism is all about.
Leo: There's nothing wrong with giving people some constructive criticism, which I'm sure was all you were trying to do. But giving it as harshly as you did can be quite hurtful to the artist. Everyone puts effort into their pics. A lot of effort. The pic that results from their hours of hard work is a direct embodiment of their inner feelings and emotions. The pictures the artist creates comes from their heart. They put all their feelings and emotions into creating that picture. To have someone stroll along and insult it can be very, VERY hurtful. That's why constructive criticism should be delivered with a measure of CONSIDERATION and TACT.
Mongoose: Don't instigate. I know it's aggravating to listen to pointless arguments and difficult to hold your reaction inside, but lashing out will only feed the argument and prolong it. But I know what it's like... On several occasions I've heard arguments so irritating and frustrating that it takes quite a bit of self-control to not add to it and let everyone know what I think. (e.g. the Romero argument on the VoodooExtreme forums) But, in the best interests of the board, it's best to keep it to yourself.
Again, if you still feel the need to argue, go ahead, just DON'T DO IT HERE, PLEASE. |

i have a good idea..which is used at other forums.
Since Dhabih isnt here so much, he could ask someone trusty here, that visits the board frequently, to be a Co moderator.
and he could close down threads that gets out of hand. this is being used in example the 3dnow.net board, works ok.

I think this is the first 3 person flame war I've ever read. (mongoose, Leo, Derpunkt) And I think it's the longest thread in the history of this board too. Whoa...

Wow, I think we just hit 70 posts with this baby?
Nothing to inspire people than a little hate... Ahh, the emotion that brings people together. Anyone else see the irony inherent in this?
