I need to find music of that sort, whether it be chant, gothic orchestra, opera, or choir. I am specifically referring to the type found in the Metal Gear Solid game and also ripped on Puff Daddy's victory.

Anyone know of any songs/artists that fit this catogory?

btw, the best example I can find is "Apollo Four Forty - Stealth Mass is F#M"

"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

hey,

i would suggest albums by "the gathering" like "mandylion" and "how to measure a planet". great is also the "requiem" by w.a. mozart - great opening with deep-mood choir!! there's also "wishmaster" and so on ...

hope it helped,

Oh yeah I LOVE Carl Orff. His music is, well, good. Very dramatic. Really the only classical I'll listen to willingly, even if it is modern classical. Purists might tell me that doesn't count.

Anyway there's this one song on the Matrix soundtrack, right now I'm trying to remember who it was. I think it was the Prodigy. But I could be way off. Maybe it was Enigma, they're dark/chant/goth. I'll find out for ya. I love that type of music, though when pressed to name any I can't remember... Try VAST. That's my favorite. Songs from his first album are slightly more what you're looking for.

hm.

if you want to emphasize the 'goth' part of all that, try 'serenade for the dead' by leaether strip.

Go out and buy "A History of Horror (from Nosferatu to The Sixth Sense)" from Silva Screen Records.
Don't get any moodier than that. It has two CDs and 28 tracks of horror movie music. Absolutely brilliant.
Edit: a goddamn typo.

Hey, Orff is best...

...but for this, I would say "Arcana"... Go with anything by Arcana. There's nothing better when you want something gothic and dark sounding...

"Chant of the Awakening" is just one of the many wonderful examples of the sweet music of Arcana... aaah... *happy sigh*

nightwish has to be the most boring, shitty, unoriginal and irritating "metal" band ever to exist in finland.

When referring to a Requiem you should probably specify. Saying "get Mozart's Requiem" is like saying "buy GM's car".

Oh, you think so? I thought that they are cool. But I'm new to that Gothic stuff. So can you suggest something better?

Battle Angel soundtrack - Infinity

Darkest, moodiest, most ominous song I've ever heard.

Too bad its a bit short but you can just do some creative looping.

Oh I'm new BTW. Sup all.
