Is the USB version of the Wacom A4 better than the serial version?
Is it faster - Anybody seen/felt the difference?!?

I think the usb connection is faster than the serial, plus you dont need an adapter and you can use the usb on both Mac and Pc,
i have a usb tablet and its working fine, guess ill need some more ram memory though. |

The USB tablet won't make Photoshop react faster!!!!!
I have tried both USB and serial tablets, and there's no difference in response.
At least not on fast (PIII) computers....

And on the other hand you can turn your serial tablet into usb, e.g. with the keyspan serial2USB-adapter, but I did not yet find an adapter to turn usb into serial...if you work on NT you won't like USB too much. |

I believe the rate at which input is sent to the computer is faster on USB than with serial. I'd have to check in some of my tech references.
Either way, USB is just simpler to use and install. It's pure plug and play.
I plan to get the WACOM Intuos 6x8 USB, I have a weak ass Aiptek tablet right now and I can't even get my system to recognize it with the new hardware yet. Looks like I'm stuck using my mouse for now.

hmm. OK guess I would go for the USB version.
Another question:
I have a Calcomp 4 x 5 (yes! - it's waaaaaay too small), but when I draw quickly it looks like I have used the line tool instead of the freehand - if you know what i mean . A smooth curve i almost impossible.
That's why I'm thinking about buying a proper sized Wacom - I'm sure it's much better, but do you think I'd still have the "ruff-curve-problem"?
N.B. I have a P3 450 mhz, 128 MB - and use photoshop. Do I need more ram?
BoomStick - jeg regnede bare ud, at der her ville komme en masse svar fra forskellige sider/synspunkter - det fede ved forumer... |
