quite obviously this was made without any reference. i was trying to model it with the approach George Bridgman has...

Well, that approach looks like a good one, i like the structure of the cheek, it give the picture a but of misticism. But i think the hat is a little blurry, and it doesn't have as much highlight on it as the face does. Keep drawing, it looks great!

I have no idea what kind of an approach George Bridgeman uses, but that image looks a LOT like as if was mafe by saffron

Painter does that huh ?
I like it. Looks better than the first version. ( but still the eyes look a bit dull. )
maybe add some shine to the eyes ?

That's really nice, I agree with everyone, nice image and nice colors. His eye's are weird though, i wonder what he'd look like with lighter eyes...

That's pretty awesome. The rendering is quite "spoogian" but softer, very pretty... And the modelling of the face looks good to me, although I'm definitely not an expert (don't even know who G. Bridgeman is ). Maybe the area to the left of his nose seems to lack definition a bit, but I feel like an idiot for pointing out something like that when the whole is so good

klaivu, I just wish I made something this good... I'm not even painting now or in the near future, all my time is getting wasted on other crap. It's sort of depressing to see how everyone is getting so much better here, while I'm just getting worse...

like it -nice colors -good job

my suggest would be to brighten up the area
over the eyes --> it's too dark
think of where the lightsource is comming from

thanks all of you!

as many of you pointed out, those eyes are pretty strange looking(altough, as klaivu said, they looked even worse at some point). i never got satisfactory results when lightening them up(gave that funny "psycho" look) so they will probably remain as is...

saffron: thanks! i finally got around making my own set of brushes in painter. still i think that distinct "painter style" shows... with those color choices it really ended up looking like you could have made it(please do not wish you could do something like that when you certainly can. ). i had thought that myself too before klaivu pointed it out.
why is that you don't have time paint? is TAIKI eating up all your resources?
