hey everyone.
I could do with a few pointers here.
okay, firstly, ive done a breif outline for a painting of kate winslet, and i want to paint it.

now, can anyone give me some pointers on how to paint the image? i havn't done alot of detail at ALL...and no shading...it just sort of looks like kate winslet right now.

i need to know a few bits from everyone who is familiar with painting in photoshop.

brush size, colours, opacity, brush settings etc.

how to start...

any help will be excellent.
thanks
Mat...

Hi!

Sorry, but you're asking for too much & the wrong things in my humble opinion. Please don't take this the wrong way. I want to help you getting started, but I think what you should do is jumping right into it. There are so many techniques, that if I tell you what colors/brushes/opacity/etc. I use, it wouldn't help you much.
Seeing your image would help us giving you pointers also.
So, just go for it and post it when you think you're ready to show it.
Don't give up too soon - the first steps are always painful.

Happy painting!

hey, well, i actually forgot all about the airbrush! ive been using the paintbrush so much latley. i just started colouring the face a little with the airbrush and it looked okay...VERY rough start...

one question, when you are painting in photoshop, do you AIRBRUSH or use paintbrush?
thanks

Mat...

oh here is my very rough sketch of kate winslet, which probably looks nothing like her to anyone else!

You should probably try and use more basic construction in your rough sketches, opposed to going for clean lines right away.

i think you should concentrate more on defining masses with values instead of lines, like a darker tone to a lighter tone to define the edge. if you are going to paint, this will make it easier.
