If you're using windows-
press the "print screen" key on your keyboard, this takes a snapshot of whatever is on screen at the moment, and places it in your memory clipboard. then, just paste the image in a blank photoshop file. (ctrl-v)
(when you open a new image in photoshop, it automatically creates it with the exact size of whatever that is in your clipboard)

Mac or PC?

PC is print screen and then paste
MAC is some wierd shit I can't remember. look in the help.
Mac is like ten times better for taking screen grabs.

MAC- Cmd+shift+3 (snapshop of whole screen)
Cmd+Shift+4 (select area to be snapshot)
