This is yet another major re-design Ive done on a classic video game character. id Softwares DOOM IMP.
Where should I go from here, besides just finishing cleaning it up, and adding some more detail?
Should I insert a background?
Should I go for a more realistic shading style, like that predator pic?

I don't know a lot about the Doom Imp. but he looks a lot like Doomsday from Superman.
I'd Say a background couldn't hurt. |

That's a really nice start scoobydoo. I don't know much about Doom, as I'm not a 1st.pers shooting game lover.
But, in my opinion, I think it could be nice with more contrasts and realistic shading, especially since you've made the background dark and with a soft gradient. Maybe some background enviroment as well. I guess what I mean ia a more dramatic setting.

doesnt really look anything like doom's imp, but like dean said, it does resemble Doomsday (when the monster was like 13) |

Thats a really good drawing ScoobyDoo. I like the colours.
I'me not all that good at proscribing a background to a foreground image. I think it's best to design the picture as a whole first. but it looks okay as is. I think it doesn't look like an imp because it's showing dexterity. those doom characers never really moved that much (due to crappy animation ).
your getting that animation colouring down |

Thanks for all the comments.
I wanted it to be dexterous. Like a spider man type thing. Climbing the walls and growling...throwing fireballs. The only reason the Imps werent cooler in the original was because of technology limitations.
As far as the resemblance to DoomsDay...yeah. Unfortunatly I noticed that myself about halfway into the drawing. If you look at the original IMP Sprites, there isnt much detail to go on, just a bald buff guy with spikes, and a red mouth & eyes.
I love the "crown" of horns design, and needed something to add flavor to the face, so I did these boney/spikey protrusions. Im looking at doing some other stuff to change that.
Joachim: I just put it on the dark background right before I posted it. The Imp is actually sitting on a layer in photoshop, so I could put him against anything I want.
