This is a watercolour sketch i did during
my week off. I had some better paper this time so it was'nt as frustrating. I copied a photo so i just could focus on painting. watercolour reminds me a lot of
painting with low opacity on the brushes in PS. The arm(right) and the the leg on our left looks a bit dead, but overall i was quite happy with the result.Better luck next time i hope.

Ahhhh yes....exelent again.

Although I did a fair amount of watercolour I never really got into that sort of "put it down once" style. It's no easy ride.

I would have put a bit of a background in to play the white off of. Even if it was just a light grey. The burnt out look is effective though. the hand (subject's left) needs a bit more definition. It might have helped to forget the photo for a bit to sort out a few of the ambigities, where there are no defining shadows etc. But the pic certianly holds up as is.

But these are just little niggly things, I like it a lot.

Btw what advantages/disadvantages have you found from using watercolour over a computer. I mean, what things have you found that the computer can't/can do. Not wanting to start a stipid debate, just curious as to your personal observations.

I like the unpredictability of it, not knowing what's going to happen next. The textures and patterns that just happen.
(there's also the fact that you can do it outdoors away from a monitor)

Anyway dont bother replying if you don't want to, I'm just always seeking other's opinions.

Thnaks for the nice comments, people

Rinaldo:
Yeah something more would have been nice in the background, i don't know why i did'nt do that maybe i was Lazy. The original photo
had lot's of small rocks and gravel in the background and i was'nt quite sure how i was gonna do them without spending 5 hours doing each and one of them. Maybe Fred has a good idea how something like that can be done easily without spending too much time.
Many areas where also totally white and was
hard to see, again it's me having a hard time
dealing with it. got to imprve myself more there. I like watercolour a lot. You can work with it almost exactly the same way as
with a brush and some ink(wich i like), except that you can get more tones out of it and you can work in layers with it, what irritates me a bit is that if you screw up you have a hard time correcting your errors(the paper is getting too wavy or does'nt hold together.
I guess you have to work more with the basic sketch before starting, making sure it will
work and knowing exactly how to paint it
in order to avoid problems. I'm not eperienced in this area so it is just from my personal experiences.
With computer you can paint over and over without leaving any trace of errors behind it. And you have a lot of fuctions that make it a ton easier than if you had to do it manually, like vaiations, curves. Besides from that i work quite similar on the
computer as i do with traditional mediums.
Thank you again for your comments, Rinaldo.
