Thanks for all the input to my previous post.
I just posted a new topic to make it easier to find, although the one in hte old post also changed into the new one since I updated the one on my site. so much for comparing it.

Well for those who commented on stuff, you`ll see I`ve taken care of some of them.

I also placed myself under a top slighlty front light with a broomstick(hey..5years of training without steroids does not put me quite up there with my warrior in size terms..but atleast I work as a usable model for lights and shadows..hehe.
should be fairly correct now if you ignore the light in the temporary background.
anyway..it looks better now..right?

there are more or less so many different sets of ab formations as there are people in htis world. Having been in hte "iron game" aswell for the last 5 years I`ve seen all kinds of abs..2,4,6,7,8,9 and even 10 packs of abs. This warriors abs are kinda normal..nothing to big, high or special about them.

AS for the arms..I`m still working on making everything correct perspective and shadingwise so it will be easier to see that they are not hanging straight down

I might have todo some cheating with the light, and have the axe and arms cast 45 deegree frontlight shadows on his legs to make it owrk.

I really enjoy seeing your art work Vebjorn.

I saw the older post with the previous image of your fine warrior and this one is much improved.

I love the forbidding shadow that his head and helmet draws on his chest.
What power!

Nice work bro!

The lighting on the guy looks great, and I really like the face in shadow like that and helmet. But I think the alighnment of the body is totally wrong, the top left of his body (our right) is slanting out too much, and his leg looks like it's not set solidly into to the ground, like it's floating or someting. I like his right arm and abs area, I won't comment on the finer details cause you said it wasn't finnished. All in all a pretty good effort.

No butt hairs, fixed eye problem.....Nice work vebjorn. I like the helmet a lot man!

His left shoulder (our right) is kinda fucked, it's sorta lopped and shorter that the other making his left peck look wrong. Also his left hand (our right) looks wonky, maybe show just a tid bit of palm, to identify it's angle.

I'm looking to see more of your work man.

The thumb isn't on the wrong side; it's just too long. If you were to hold something that big in your hand, you would not be seeing that much of the thumb. It would probably be touching the most distal digit of the pointer figure and not the middle digit.

Other crits, I think his pecs (chest muscles) are too small for that big of a frame. In that pose his upper pecs would be more visible, it looks a little flat in that area. His right triceps is looking a little funny, and so is the elbow area, I know it's not finished yet, but those are the only problem areas I can see.

I can't wait for the rest of the image!!! Great stuff. I'm still working on moving my style of painting to something like yours; I can't wait for some tuts!

Well Veb, I certainly have to say this piece is nice. But as with the others, a few flaws leap out at me. Now the thumb, pec and ab issues don't bother me so much, but the stumpy arms do. I realize they're bent at an angle, but the lack of dramatic lighting from bicep to forearm to signify change in direction leaves them looking small.
Just as a side note..I now have a mental image of you posing in a loin cloth with a pot on your head in your living room to get the lighting down for this....*bleck*

OH...almost forgot. This comment encompasses most of your work. Since you've gotten the creation of characters down to a level of ease, I'd like to see you address backgrounds much more than you have in the past. Design your characters in an environment instead of building one up around them in the quasi-vignette style that's so common in your work.
Once you master the full background with such powerful characters you will be a true Lord of the Sith.......er something like that....I'm retarded.....*sigh*

Starting at the top of the figure...the left shoulder doesn't have the same peck to deltoid separation that the right arm has, and this is critical to get the arms not looking like they are just stuck on the figure...what might help you with the left arm is to define a different tonality for the part of the arm that is parallel to the light as opposed to the forearm, that is directly lit. As of now, the values are way to close, and the arm doesn't read as bent...
THe pinky on the right hand is as big as a thumb, and the thumb on the left hand looks broken from the rest of the hand.
I have no problem with the abdomen muscles...they actually look quite nice...
The legs though are, not trying to be insulting here, but the legs are stiff as boards. It looks like you might have used a toy doll or something to get the leg pose right. There is no curvature to the legs, bow leggedness, or pigeon toed, etc. just very stiff legs. In other words, you aren't using the flexibility the human form has, or the rules of opposition to get the legs correct. Not every muscle in the legs are going to be active. you have all of them defined, which is highly unnatural. If anything, the left leg is close to right on, but the right leg need some work, getting it to look more "organic" or human...

THe pose is also a bit cliche, but then again, how many more variations of a barbarian holding an axe can you milk from the cliche already. Reminds me of a death dealer painting of him walking knee deep in some murky water holding his axe ready to bash any cranium that reveals itself from the murk...
