Hi all,

Just wanted to show this older painting ('99) which I finally got around to finish. It was one of those pictures that just keep on giving you a bad conscience every time you look at it, so I decided to take a few hours of my schedule to do the last few brushstrokes.

yeah...here it is...fire it away!

Very Nice Pecka...

I suck at critiques...but I think the nose is a bit wired...and the finger which is on the gun trigger, where is the rest of it?
But the rest is very NICE!
Specially I like the expression in his face....the cocky smile!

I really want to se it when you have worked on it some more...

Keep it upp!

Really cool pic. The only thing I can spot odd about it is the gun hand. It seems to be turned out a little far. Something I try to do when I make poses is try to do the pose myself. If I can't do it or if it is uncomfortable then why would someone else do it. I like your pic alot so I wont talk about your proportions. hint hint

Oh and I think it would add some more atmosphere if you made the top red a little darker. That bright red is a little harsh on the eyes.

I always like to see oil paintings, there's this moody athmosphere here, everyone can imagine what has happened to this guy themselves.. perhaps he's just found peace of mind after shooting a few bullets through her ex-wife's head

Ok, and some crits: Is it just me or does that gun look too big, though I've never seen a .45 in real life... dunno. And the mist seems to rise against the wind.

Poxen - cocky smile? you call that expression a smile

nice pic overall. you have lots of 'attitude' in your paintings, although i'd like to see one without a red background. the nose is a little funny, tilted upwards a bit too much, but that angle of the head is difficult to get correctly.

oh, and it looks like he just got shot in the crotch with a cannonball.

LOL Shot with a cannon ball! Exactly what I was thinking hennifer, couldn't have said it better myself.

Other than the croch and what some others have said, awsome stuff. I like how you drew in your boarders(Spell check?) Hows Wolverine doing?

Very good! I love your colours! Maybe the cloth looks a bit stiff. I really like your style.

thanks guys...

poxen - Yep! you're right. The trigger finger does seem like it's missing a bit of flesh... Gotta fix that. And the nose..hmmm...Yeah right again..

laslauk - oilpainting? where? this was 100% Photoshop...

Hennifer - this painting was done 6 months ago...the wolverine picture is my most resent. They both have red backgrounds, but that was not intentional...

johf - thanks. The wolverine painting is done. Check it out in the other thread or at my site.

Micke - thanks man! you're right about the clothes. I was too lazy to look up reference or do photos myself... Hopefully next time I won't be that lazy...

Boom, at it again...again, nice work here, with some help, if you want to inject it into the image at all.
1. Most noticeable, trigger finger is missing from the second knuckle to the hand. Where did it go? Overpaint with red I bet...
THe way you have the green included in the gun hand, it almost looks like cyber greebles under his flesh. Is that what is going on? Kinda cool...his left hand is very small, but really nicely rendered. I would scale tool that one. But, I think finger tips are necessary for that one, as he is dropping the shells from the palm of his hand, how ar they coming free? Through the fingers? Not easily explained in one image. So get some finger tips in there, with maybe one shell rolling off one of the finger tips to show the action of...
Hisa head is a bit small to the body, but this could be creating a character type...
The crotch looks like a target that has been punched really hard, and indented from the impact of the blow. All the radiating lines in the crotch area really draw the eye to this part of the figure. In general, all the folds could use some work.
Folds need quite a bit of dedication and practice to get correct. If you have typical garb, like this chaps, it is best to get someone in clothing similar to it, pose them in the same pose, and shoot a photo. Use that as your fold reference. THe tension points are slightly incorrect, and the folds are too consistent from start to finish of their radiating sizes.

And I don't mind it, but is there a reason you use red for all your backgrounds? This one might look good in a different moody color, midnight blue maybe with some deep burgundy wisps of smoke in it. Give it a really surreal nighttime feel.

And in the wolverine shot, it is considered a pin up, which usually has no relevance to story of any kind, so the deployment of Wolvies claws are quite alright, it could mean that he just moments before got trapped, and now they have sprung free to cut through the net. Whenever you have a specialty character, with novelty components, it is always good to include them in the image. I was grilled for this on a Ripclaw Wolverine pin up I did for Image a long ass time ago...just wanted to pass that on

Keep posting, this is fun stuff to look at...

Fred - youre right! most of the others mention the same things as you. The head might seem a bit small, but I'm sure if I were to remove the big jacket it would be rather big enough. The big jacket makes it seem a little too small. The folds in the jacket were indeed done without any reference. My fault... I was too lazy. Nice point about the left hand and the shells. The red in the background is purly coincidence. I don't ALWAYS use red in the background. I think in all my paintings I used red two times.. in the wolverine pic and this one... So I think that's a bit hasty conclusion, isn't it?`

The wolverine pic is done. I won't touch it again. But I'm sure you're right. I just have to let it go now...

Thanks for commenting.
