I've seen some awesome marker sketches lately, specifically by TJFrame and Vortx, and I was wondering, what kind of markers are they? I've never seen markers that go on so thin and are so pressure-sensitive. The only markers I've ever used are the cheesy little Crayola kind that leave big dark streaks no matter how lightly you press down, so I'm 100% sure that you use something much, much better. Could anyone help me out?

I believe they are using Prismacolor Markers. They are double sided, one with a thick point, and the other with a nice thin one. They are like 3 dollers a marker at your local hobby store.

yeah, those suckers cost! and you need a good rag based paper to get some good results (if you're starting out). I remeber someone made a marker pallete out of acetate.(not sure if i spelled that right) He had about 40 sheets, 4x5 and bound them on one side. He then put down different colors on the acetate, kinda like a mixing pallete. He could then use his blender to pick up the colors he mixed, and he was able to keep the colors for about a month or so before they dried out. that's my only tip for markers OH yeah, I've got an even better tip for ya. Don't buy the metalic markers! I've seen many a poor soul by these thinking they are going to use them to create chrome or gold surfaces. I never did find a use for them, they usually come in a big set, but don't buy them individually, you'll be mad at yourself if you do.

Hey all, you can order Prismacolor markers and other good stuff at. www.aswexpress.com They have pretty good deals. Also eBay.com can get some good deals, but I'm not one to buy second hand art supplies unless I can check them out first, ya know?

I'm not sure if this company ships internationaly(Spell check?) But give them a try for some priceing. They have a good price on Prisma markers. I've shopped for them before.

Hope that helps you all who wana get into them. They are darn KEEN!

And if you guys are really crazy, try using some AD Markers. These babes are really juicy...which allows you to blend colors almost like paint....and they last foreeevverr. Plus you can attach it to a specially made air gun, which shoots the marker out like airbrush...it's pretty cool. One bad thing...they are extremely toxic....so use a gas mask (i'm not joking, had to use it all through school). But for general purpose markering, stick to Prisma...tho they don't last at all! So buy a lot....

damn...i'm remembering their smell...getting a headache....seriously!...

Hi...I've been lookin for ages to get some markers, I managed to get a few from the biggest art store round here but I was hoping to find something like the Prisma or Trias everyone here seems to be so rabid about (as in get some markers where the colors are more than just light gray and dark gray)

Anyhoo, main question is, anyone know where I can get markers of this type in the UK?

Thanks in advance.
