I have a problem thats been bugging me for the longest time. Haven't found anyone who can give me a solution yet. Prob: when saving images gif or jpg the colors come out totally different. Keep in mind I'm using HTML picker and snap to web safe colors. I'm sure if its the settings or what it is but when I do it in Fireworks the colors come out perfect just like it is. I know, I know I'm new and I already have problems :P.

I have had similar problems to. i had a nice, rich blue (that i picked from the "web safe" colors) and it turned out a purple shade. it was still cool, but it didnt look entirely right. I have gone stright to working in ImageReady and then importing the psd into fireworks and slicing what i need to. i know it is a roundabout way, but it gets the job done. nice. pluse DW3 works really well with FW3.

basically, all i can say is you have to tough it out. just realize, if you do something in photoshop, it may turn out with difft colors on the web. I write down the #'s that i use in my images so i can match them later in the HTML.

do you have any sites up that we could look at?

Thanx for your input Moose. I thought I was the only one having that problem. Me it was the rich and nice red.
I have a site but I'm not to proud of it yet. I'm still testing it. Its at http://www.wildmyth.com . My site is running into all sorts of problems. When viewed on PC the red background is black and everything else is darker. When viewed in Explorer things get bigger. I'm trying to put up my site in between work and my free time. Right now I'm just going to finish the site so it works on Macs and then redesign one for PCs. My site is far from being finished its my second site and its still incomplete. I'm not so proud of it that's why I'm embarrassed to show it to anyone. The only thing that's close to looking complete is my Misc. page with my business card enters. I still have a lot of roll overs to redraw. The only thing I'm satisfied with is my home page and that's about it. I'm going to a Photoshop seminar in LA on Sat. to see if they have a solution to the problem. If they have a solution I'll make sure to let you know. If not we're just SOL :P.

Later
Thanx again Moose for your input.

i don't know about newer versions of them browsers, but netscape and ie, for example, display jpegs in completely different shades and colors. well it's noticeable anyway.

then you should remember that if you've touched your photoshop monitor/whatnot preferences, that'll affect the way you'll see the image elsewhere.. i.e. you up your gamma and in photoshop it looks the way you want it to look, and elsewhere it's darker.

don't take my word for anything though. it's tuesday.

Not sure about the red turning into black thing (it looks fine on a PC here -- perhaps the PC you were viewing on had the brightness turned down?), but as for the fonts getting bigger in IE, I'm assuming that you have IE5 installed, which uses font sizes that match the sizes on PCs (Netscape 6 is supposed to do this as well). More info is at Webmonkey: http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/00/16/index2a.html

I haven't touch the photoshop monitor setting or the monitor preference faustfx. I will try will try to up my gamma. I may have to check the settings again since I'm not the only one using the computer.
Thanx faustfx.

You maybe are right Zoogie the monitor that I checked it on was my friend's, and its a really cheap one. I am using IE5. I do sleep with my teddy bear OOOooppps. Man Zoogie you keep this up and you could end up working at the psychic hotline.
Thanx Zoogie.
