Hi, Everyone!
I'm a big fan of Japanese Animation, so I decided to try the shading style a little bit. IMHO, the pic looks kinda like a hybrid between Japanese and American animation. Ahh well He looks a little stiff, too, I think.
Anyway, just thought I'd post it and see what everyone thinks. Feedback/tips would be great!

Yes, he looks a bit stiff. Just tell people that's a brand-new leather jacket and he's breaking it in. hehehe
Either way the shading and look of it definately comes across to my eye as japanimation. Although, I never really watched tons of it.

Thanks, guys!
I didn't really plan on making this turning out very well. I just wanted to try the shading style, but got carried away and gave him a body and everything! The lack of planning probably makes him look like he has a stick up his rump...
Yeah, a new leather jacket. That's it!!
If anyone else has any tips/suggestions, feel free!

Good drawing. You might want to make the hand that's swinging forward a bit larger. |

Sedone, good point.
It is rather small compared to his head now that I notice it...
Thanks!

ever try modeling and using a plug-in or change surface settgings to get that look? in LightWAve or MAX?
LightWave6 does a good job of it.
not sure on max.

A third colour would be good.. They often use 3 or four tones, normal colour, brightly lit, shadowed, and heavy shadow.

Yeah, I noticed they usually use anywhere from 2-4 colors in Japanese animations.
I used 3 on almost everything (didn't want to go too crazy on coloring) except for the skin, where I used 2. I tried 3, but his skin came out kinda shiny looking.
Sure beats the heck out of smooth shading!
