I agree with all the sentiments above. I don't envy the judges... wait a minute... damn...
Is there a way to have people vote on it? Popular winner and then pretentious judge winner?
The only way that I can come up with some rational basis to judge is to break it down into concept, drawing, composition, shape design, effort, coolness, etc.
Hehe, how bout Affected for a judge. I know he loves this subject matter

hmmm..... guess I shouldn't have titled my image "boomstick", since I just now remembered that there's another guy on dhabih eng who has that nickname.. Some seem to think that it's that guy boomstick's entry and not mine... hehe.. my bad
Anyways, some really great stuff here, I know my favorites at least...

i see someone finally took to his own to give zyfly some shit in exchange for his shit on us. he sucks more than i do. he's lazier than i am. he's more annoying than i am. he has less social skills than i have. he's also got his head stuck up his ass quite deep.
HE MUST DIE!
okay, i'm done. *hyperventilate*

Yeah, guns 'n' mutants, got to love them.
Had I entered, any guns would probably been pointed at the character's own head... |

Ah jeez, there are just so many entries that are deserving of a prize. When I get rich (thats when...not if ) I'll buy ya'll a wacom or a GeForce! Heh heh....theres just so many good entries, it seems to pick 3 as the winners does a grand disservice to the rest. Man, why'd you guys all have to be so good huh?
I think for now my favourite is.....Boomstick by Christer Sveen
The character is just so powerful and commanding. The tatoos, the gun, the background...ahh, i just LOVE IT! I thought it looked good at first, but I have it as my desktop now, and wow, its just awesome. Try it, it actually makes a huge difference seeing them as desktop wallpapers.

Well i'm impressed by the contest entries (36 for now) my fav are:
micke's - really nice and crisp work... these poster style looks just great
joachim's - Uh-huh... bg city is simply amazing! remids me some of Craig's painting... also fantastic work with colors and textures
timurs' - well afaik where is nothing from stalker (book and movie) but it dosen't matter... seems like he've used natural media tools for rendering... whoa! cudos!
vebjorn's - kinda Boris style and nice work with human figure
eh must stop for now...
Heya guys at GFX, maybe it's time to build a vote sys ?
/Leo

Hurri-cane,
I'm glad you like it
Hmm, you might be right about the shadow. Actually, I didn't put in a strong shadow behind her, because I thought it kind of ruined the pic a bit, also because I could exscuse it a bit by the blue light that blends in from the city (also, that part of the picture I personally feel that works quite well, even though it might be a bit "wrong")
But, I'm sure there's a LOT of mistakes in my picture since I did the whole thing just straight forward with not much analyzing while working it out. If I had more time on my hand, I would probably have done something different with a lot of the things on this picture and analyze more on how things should be, so that I could learn more through the progress, but what the heck, at least I entered
And thanks, as always, comments are great, I love constructive critism !
Oh, and saffron, sure you can have the original size, but I don't think you'll get very impressed by the texturing, it's all VERY rough in a high rez.
