Hi guys. I've had my serial-based intuos tablet for a while. I was wondering if there is a way to improve its performance. Like if I try and draw a circle very quickly I end up with jagged lines. Is there a way to increase the rate of information sent through the serial port? (like the way the program ps2rate increases the default mouse rate)
Are USB based tablets smoother? I couldn't justify purchasing a new one (I already have an extra 6x8 artZII ), but I'd like to know. Thanks.

<Tinusch's head explodes due to another Wacom post>
The jagged lines are either because your processor isn't fast enough, you don't have enough RAM, or you have too many programs open. |

My apologies over your exploding head .
I always assumed it was because of the serial port because after I upgraded from a p166 to a p2 400 I got the same jagged lines. So when I upgrade to something far faster I can expect to see a decrease in the jaggies? If so, that's terrific news! Another reason to purchase a new computer 8).

Tinusch is wrong. It has nothing to do with RAM, CPU power, or the amount of applications you are running.
It has to do with Adobe Photoshop. I've spoken with numerous Wacom representatives, and a few techies from Adobe, and they both confer that Photoshop has a problem with some serial tablets. Apparently they are reworking their brush engine for the next release of Photoshop.
I have a PIII 700, 256mb RAM, and I still get those jagged lines in Photoshop. However, my tablet works to perfection in Painter, and most other graphic applications. It really sucks ass though, because I use Photoshop almost exclusively.
Hope I helped.

Heh, didn't mean to sound condascending
I asked about USB tablets, and they told me they have had basically the same problems, however, there seems to be slightly less instances of the problem with USB, but rest-assured, the problem still exists even in USB models.
I suggest that you get used to Painter

Chumps, I have a USB Graphire and I have the same problem. At first I assumed the reason for the jagged representations was due to the lesser sensitivity of the Graphire over the Intous. However, many people responded to my post about the problem and told me essentialy the same thing that Humanclay said. It's a Photoshop problem.

I have USB Intuos and first thing i drew with it was a REAL quick circle :)
Its a bit jagged, but only when i draw a circle in less than 300ms! Do you draw your picture spending milliseconds on each stroke? lol i kis u
