The ripping/copying/photoreference debate rages on here, with some rather boring and unpleasant tones as well. So it got me thinking if maybe we could get something positive and fun out of this, create a new angle of seeing the whole thing. Here's the idea I came up with:

I guess everyone knows the children's game of "broken telephone", or whatever it's called in English? First person in line comes up with a phrase, whispers it to the next, who whispers it to the next, etc. Then the last person says aloud what he heard, the first person says what the original phrase was, and everyone laughs.

So, how about doing the same thing with images: first person draws or paints something, gives it to the second who uses it as a basis or reference for his own image, then he gives it on to a third person who does the same thing, and so on. In the end, everyone's images are shown on a website. Of course the participants shouldn't show their pictures around before that, in order to ensure that everyone only sees the image that precedes themselves in the chain.

Tell me what you think of this idea - is there anyone here who would want to participate? If you think it's too silly then just say that... I'm a childish person and I'm still having a happy-love day so I can't judge for myself

Cool, thanks for the response! Now let me count, 14 people (including me) - that seems a pretty good amount already, otherwise it will take months before the chain is complete. Or should there be a time limit for contributions?

If you think any other rules would be necessary, feel free to suggest, but personally I don't see the need. Maybe just some guidelines, like for example try to make a significant change in either content or execution, so that we don't end up with too similar entries in the chain...

So, umm, what should we start with? Affected suggested I do the first; I'm not really sure I want that job, but if no one else wants to volunteer then I will of course do it The first image could of course just be a photo or an existing picture by someone, how would you feel about that? Or maybe the participants should know as little as possible about what the original image is, in which case I should just decide something?

Anyway, for coordinating this, could you all mail me ([email protected]), so I'll make a list and mail you back with the addresses for those before and after you in the chain?

i think we should do something like this, but i was thinking everyone had an hour to work on an image always the same image just an hours worth of work,.. untill let's say 10 people touch the image,.then post the progressive images to show how the world was pulled together for the collaboration of a lifetime,. or something like that,..

start off with our semi talented people for he original sketches, then onto the not so great artists, then the final grand artiste's you know who you are

I'd suggest a simple guideline like this:

• You have 1 full day, from the moment you receive the emailed picture to the moment you send it to the next person.
  

...it'll take over 2 weeks with this simple limit...

that;s more interesting B, and you could learn something from that. I think this is better approach: (i doubt that someone is going to manage to organize it tho) come up with a theme, assign different parts to dif ppl for doing concept, once that is complited give the sketch for review to the pros. They do corrections and write comments. Then you do the same thing with coloring and painting.
