I'm interested in knowing how many other people on this forum do 3d work? This forum is mostly a digital painting forum (which is great). I'd just like to see if anyone else here has 3d art to display.

I do ... rarely but I do. I used to work a lot in Alias PA and a little bit in Prisms (father of Houdini). But nowadays it's just a little bit of Maya.

Loki, I was wondering if you could tell us more about what kind of 3d you do when you apply it at work? And do you guys still use other programs like 3d studio, Lightwave or Softimage? Curious.

Zephyros, freelance yes, but not much, modeling is useful only for cg/anim houses, ppl from the web usually want some anims for their flash web sites. i'm totally not into that.

I do some 3d as well using Max. But I have nothing to show really. I spend most of my time dabbling in 2d.

yoszi: yeah - not a teamplayer at all.

one quote:"There's no milk and sugar for coffe ... I'm going home!"

he's great doing his own stuff, but couldn't final one shot here at X that was for production.

What a great artist though! He makes music too, and f*ck is his stuff good. But maybe he's too much of an artist - too bad ...

I do lotsa 3D but still very much learning. Im not really happy enough with any of my 3D modeling to put any of it up yet, even though its loads better than a lot of stuff Ive seen on the net(though not here. you guys 3D is great!)

Im working on a Playermodel for Quake3, and some groovy scenes now...

I'm with Frost on this one. Since I do 3d at work all I do at home is painting, painting and then some painting.

I just quit my job though, so there might be time to do some of my own 3d before long (here's hoping).

Actually, the only 3D software we're using at StationX is Lightwave. Our guys, are, IMHO pretty much the best artists that are working with Lightwave, seriously.
I'm using Maya at a friend's machine, because I can't afford a license (who can?).

hey Loki, is Taron still around ? I would say that he's the best LW artist at the mo. Good combination of modeling/texturing and imagination.

He was here for a while. But nobody wanted to work with him after a while, so he was layed off when things got a little bit tight around here ...

Hi!

I'm doing mostly 3d stuff, but I'm still far away from being a good modeller or texture artist. I'm using 3dsmax most of the time.. my limit unfortunately is my machine which is just a PII350 with 64MB RAM - its really hard to work on complicated scenes with that.

If youre curious you can see some of it on

I'm very happy about constructive critique.

I've been into 3d for years now. Trouble is finding a job in 3D. I started out in Lightwave but now I mainly use MAX even thou I hate it. But it's just got so much support coz everybody uses it... (maybe not as true these days)
