This is probably a stupid question, but should I snag a 9x12 Wacom Intuos tablet that comes with stuff and a 4D mouse, or ditch the 4D mouse part so I can get the 12x12 version?
I'm not even sure what I'd be able todo with a 4D mouse that I probably can't do with a regular mouse, then again I've never owned a 4D mouse.
On another note, is the intuos airbrush any good? |

Dunno..... If you have a job in the industry doing graphics design like dhabi or craig mullins or something... go for it. I think the 4D mouse is usually used for CAD ... and I dont know if the airbrush is any good.
But damn.... that is alot of money. |

12x12? How does that work? Your monitor isn't a square, it's a rectangle.

My answer to the what size issue was this: Get the 12x18...true, i have to sit an extra foot away from the monitor, but hey....
My reason for the choice was my lack of knowladge as to what I would like to do with the tool. The monster size can be resized to any of the other formats...and im not out the money of a smaller pad if i move up. It also alows for full size page layup, tracing of large images, gestural painting strokes, and has the snazy programable menu strip.
Also...go with the USB, all the way.
Well, my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

that's funny, I was contemplating the same situation a couple of weeks ago when I bought my intuos. I went with the 12x12, thinking you can always get the 4dmouse later. The 12x12 is huge, I love it. I have been using it now to paint on 3d models using deep paint 3d. Cool program. I have yet to draw something to post here, hopefully soon.

size doesn't matter, it's what you do with it.
(oh great, listen to me. Now I've got tablet envy again.) |

Hi,
I've had an art tablet since September. Mine is a 12 x 12 and it's great! I could probably make do with a smaller tablet, but this size seems pretty good to me. It's still small enough that I can easily hold it in my lap, but big enough so I have enough space to work.
My brother got the mouse separately (because it didn't come with this size). He wanted it for testing something he's working on. Anyway I haven't found any special use for it yet. It's cool having the extra buttons, but the pen is all you really need with the tablet.
Anyway now sure that my opinion counts for anything, but I thought I'd mention this anyway.

Welp I've decided. I'm going to go with 12x12 USB, mainly because I imagine the size would make doing fine details a bit easier, and it'll probably last a lot longer in my role of life. Only thing I can think of using that 4D mouse for anyways is vid games (I can still pick one up for $20 anyways).
I'm snagging the one from Buy.com for $370.
If anyone has any last warnings or opinions you have about a day before I order.
BTW thanx for the help. |

Size doesn't always help with detail! ^_^
Orginal pic im workin on
400X600
I zoomed in to about
1300X3???
And with my 6x8 had tons of control on detail...
So the size of your tablet doesn't really matter, its how you use it! ^_^
Wow.... I got a sig now! weee! |

Well actually the detail part was me trying to think of an excuse.
I suppose I'm just paranoid of smaller tablets ever since I had a REAL bad experience with an old Wacom Artpad tablet.
And if I can get a bigger size for the same price, why the hell not?

The 4D mouse being used for video games? Eek! Anyone who's actually used that would tell you that'd be an impossibility. The only thing it can really do (But can do very well) is 3D modeling (Or CAD I imagine, however I don't do that so I wouldn't know.) |
