is there a difference from using the dodge tool, and using airbrush and setting it to dodge?? all this time ive been using airbrush... ????? Thanks

There is indeed quite a big difference. Try using the airbrush set to dodge, and the dodge tool side by side to see for yourself.
The color you're dodge-airbrushing with also makes a difference.
